My biggest knock & grudge on Lovie Smith - that he let Chico go! Otherwise, I loved Lovie. Should've kept Chico over his BFF Bob. I think Lovie felt threatened by Ron's popularity as the DC in Chicago.

Ron Riveria went to one of my local high schools. By the time I was old enough to play football myself, Ron was a retired Chicago Bear and a local hero. Herman Edwards, who is also from my area, held a football camp during the summer. Ron was my coach at the camp. He was the coolest, most down to earth guy, and was great with all of us kids. We had no idea that he was going to blow up with all of the success that he has. It’s pretty awesome to see.

I met Walter Payton when I was 12 years old, by chance in a hotel lobby in Los Angeles. I nervously asked him for a picture. He was extraordinarily nice. Really engaged with me. I still have the snapshot. I'm 59 now and it's one of my most prized possessions. You hear tons of stories like that. He was filled with remarkable warmth and kindness.

Thinking of the Superbowl win in 85. Rich's interview with Thomas Jones of the 2006 Bears who lost to Peyton Manning & Indy is really good. I was too young to really appreciate the 85 Bears but the 2006 Bears were *My* *Team* Thomas Jones is such a nice guy he wouldn't throw Coach Lovie Smith under the bus(but) his decision to give carries to a rookie Cedric Benson(RIP) Who coughed the ball up & have the QB Rex (he of the small hand) Grossman. throw the ball in a driving rainstorm, still pissed me off to this day. Thomas Jones hasn't watched a Superbowl game since 2006. I barely watch because that game was there for the taking.
