As a Chiefs fan, I'm honestly happy for the Lions fans that it wasn't a mirage for them as we've seen with some other teams. The Chiefs and the Lions were bottom feeder teams for the majority of my childhood and even though I can't root for the Lions when they play the Chiefs, I do want to see Dan Campbell and the Lions succeed otherwise. If we somehow don't get the threepeat, I'd at least hope the Lions get a Super Bowl. If we do get the threepeat, I wish the Lions success as long as it's not at the cost of the Chiefs.

I wish people would look at the logistics of that.. whenever we say “Detroit beat the chiefs last year” the response is always “well they didn’t have Kelce..” and the same argument can be made here. Bucs were fully healthy and playing amazing before their injuries. We still held them to 20 points & 5 sacks. Chiefs just barely beat a completely injured Bucs team in OT. Lions are just playing much better than the Chiefs which is why some people have them as #1.

It’s like people only think smash mouth football with high scores equates to best . Obviously if you’re winning that way of course you are a team to be reckoned with. But it’s not the only way to win football games , and it’s not the only factor to being a great team. The Chiefs are well oiled machine with Andy running it at top levels , that they don’t ever skip a beat even with injuries that would have devastated most other teams by now. And they are right , the. If flashy isn’t alway guaranteed win, sometimes it’s that team that does want it needs to in the right moment that has been in these high stress games that comes out on top in the end. The Chiefs have the classic setup to win a championship. Great QB, good run game, great defense and special teams. It's a tried and true formula. The Lions best chance is for their defense to play as well or better than the Chiefs on that day. It's a big ask, but defense still wins championships.

Lions might be the sexy pick, but the Chiefs are just going about their business. The Chiefs always start off slow and by midseason, they start to click. We’ve had quite a few big injuries as well and ideally the team gets healthy by the end of the season/start of the playoffs. My only worry about the Lions is that they’re so hot now. Honestly, did Brockman say he thinks Lions are more physical than the Chiefs defense? Meanwhile Chiefs total defense ranking is 5th, Lions are 22nd. Chiefs pass defense is 15th, Lions are 29th! Against the run, Chiefs are 3rd, Lions at 7th. This with Chiefs having played Lamar, Burrow, Kurt, Herbert and now Baker who happens to be leading NFL in TDs and yards passing. I mean I get it, people have Chiefs fatigue and will jump on any slight reasoning to go against them. I felt that way about Patriots like everyone else not from New England.

Regardless of what your answer to the question is, I think most people would agree the Chiefs are clearly the best team in the AFC and the Lions are by a wider margin the best team in the NFC, and if they played each other, as Kurt Warner alluded to, it would be quite the battle. I do think the edge goes to the Chiefs, not because they just beat the team the Lions lost to, but because they've gone undefeated despite an unbelievable wave of injury and one of the toughest schedules in the league. Sure, the Lions lost Aidan Hutchinson and can't keep Jameson Williams in check, but for the most part they're doing all right. The Chiefs have lost Hollywood Brown, Rashee Rice, Jody Fortson, Jared Wiley, and Jaylen Watson for the season, have been without Isiah Pacheco for most of the year, have missed JuJu Smith-Schuster, Nazeeh Johnson, and Mike Danna these last couple weeks, have yet to see Charles Omenihu on the field, and have endured slow or disappointing starts from Travis Kelce, Carson Steele, Xavier Worthy, George Karlaftis, Drue Tranquill, Joshua Williams, and Kingsley Suamataia, who got benched in week 2. And that actually contributes to why they keep winning, strangely: the coaching staff molds their gameplan to the available personnel and plays to their strengths as much as possible, and that allows them to be highly adaptable to in-game situations as well.

Nobody outside the NFC North has circled the Lions on their schedule and gone, "That will be a statement game", "We can make our year if we beat them" and "I can save my job with a win". The Chiefs have been dealing with that for 5 years. They get EVERYONES A game. Check out how many times teams go for it on 4th down against them. Way more than anyone else in that time frame. Lions are great, but peaking too early. Chiefs will peak in January with the returns of Danna, JuJu, Pacheco, Omenihu, and Brown.

Y'all are trying to compare the chiefs team right now against the lions. I don't know if Kansas city will or wont win but I do know that if you take into consideration that the chiefs team right now isn't the same chiefs team you'll have in the potential Superbowl match up and that's because that offense will get Pacheco back, they'll get Hollywood back if he feels up for it, they'll have juju back, and they could though unlikely have rice back as well and will have a few rotational players back as well to an already good defense. It can look like an easy choice when one teams playing eh and the other is blowing teams out but one of those teams has 30 year olds at their skill positions and are still undefeated. Most of those are due back come playoff time so we could end up with Hopkins, Brown, Worthy, Juju, and Kelce with Hunt and Pacheco in the backfield. Mahomes hasn't had that much talent around him since 2019. Could be a very different team come January.

We saw this same Lions team a few years ago in the Super Bowl against the Patriots-except it was with the Rams and McVay and Todd Gurley. Goff had an amazing ground game with an awesome play action pass game. They faced a stout defense from the Patriots and Goff withered away. Patriots offense wasn’t even that good. Just had one good drive. Patriots win that Super Bowl. This is that same team with Goff at the helm. Just in Detroit.
