Rich ... I know that you're originally a Jets guy, but hopefully you can get behind the Bills -- the ONLY pro football team from NY State -- to FINALLY win it all this year. Consider this bit of "poetic full circle" that MIGHT hopefully come to pass if, indeed, the Bills end up advancing in the playoffs and having to go through Arrowhead in the post-season. KC covets a three-peat in the worst way. Well, back at the end of the 1966 season (when I was a mere toddler and not yet aware of "football" or the Bills), the Buffalo Bills were back-to-back American Football League (AFL) Champions from 1964 and 1965, and they had earned the right to play for a third consecutive AFL Championship as the Eastern Division Champion. The Bills were ageing and not at their championship best any more, but they were still a good enough quality team to win their division. The Western Division Champion was a young and ascendant Kansas City Chiefs team. The AFL title game that year was in Buffalo because back then the game alternated between the Eastern team and the Western team regardless of which team had the better record. So, thus far at that point in time, the Eastern Division team hosted the AFL Championship Games in 1960, 1962, 1964, and 1966 ... and the Western Division team hosted in 1961, 1963, and 1965. Also up to that point in time, there were NO "playoff games" (except if there was a tie regarding which team had won the division -- which occurred in 1963 when Buffalo and Boston had tied for the Eastern Division's best record and Boston won a playoff game for the right to play for the 1963 AFL Championship out in San Diego). The added incentive feature starting with the 1966 Championship was the fact that the winner would then appear in what eventually became known as "Super Bowl I." The Chiefs came into Buffalo and jumped all over the turnover-prone Bills early on a sloppy, muddy and wet snowy field at old War Memorial Stadium (a.k.a. "the Rockpile). The game was essentially over by halftime, and there was NO Buffalo three-peat. By the time I was old enough to understand and follow football a couple of years later, the Bills were the worst, most putrid team in all of football (but they were "my" team) ... and their "worst in football record" then gave them the right to draft a guy out of USC named Orenthal James Simpson. Given all that history of "close but no cigar," and all the Bills' heartbreaking Super Bowl futility in the early 1990s under Marv Levy, I think it would be "poetic full circle" justice IF somehow -- if the Bills have to play the Chiefs in KC for the AFC Championship and the right to go to a Super Bowl, we return the favor from 1966 and end the Chief's own three-peat quest on THEIR home field. It should also be noted that this 2024 season is the 60th anniversary of the Bills' first AFL Championship. Go Bills !!!!

WOW, why didn't you mention that Detroit is playing with practice squad players

I don't remember the year. But when the Bills beat the Cowboys on Christmas. When he picked up his own fumble and got the first down. Buffalo won that game. That's when I knew. Josh is going to be a legend at some point.

All the drunk Josh haters that said Lions would whip them.. where you at?
@filmrater5580Күн бұрын
Name one person who said that??!! Sounding a lil too cocky since the Bills just lost to the Rams. The Lions had half their defense out of the game and they only won by 6. Oh and better hope you don’t get the Ravens in the playoffs. Didn’t you lose to them earlier by 25 points with a healthy defense.
@jordandurkin1237Күн бұрын
@@filmrater5580the game was not 6 points close that was a garbage TD that made it 1 score number 1 number 2 the bills were also missing half their defense fool to be exact 3 out of 4 started on the back end their all pro linebacker goes out of the game when the score is 35-14 everything you said is whinny excuses you all would still be saying Detroit is the best team had they won there would be no talk about the defense being hurt new flash the bills defense has been hurt the entire season they always ALWAYS have atleast 5 or 6 starters missing on the defensive side of the ball the names might change as guys come back and other guys go out but they have been decimated on defense all season long and as Rich said the bills D line destroyed the supposed to be best o line in the game the entire 1 quarter and most of the game Goff was under pressure but this excuse that the defense had injuries for the lions has to be the dumbest take of the week considering the bills defense is also missing half its starters

@@filmrater5580 the defense was healthy vs the Ravens really ???? Don’t talk if you don’t know what your talking about

Daquan Jones Matt Milano Terrell Bernard Taron Johnson does that sound healthy to you ??? If you don’t understand what those 4 names mean to the bills defense who were all out vs the Ravens than you don’t know football those are the 4 best players on the defense with the exception of Ed Oliver so 4 of the best 5 all out vs Ravens and you say they were healthy

@@jordandurkin1237lol Lions front 7 is decimated. Bills played to that weakness and exploited the LBs. Props to them for that.

Well said Rich. I got issues with the secondary side of the defense. If they can button that up. Tough train to stop. Go Buffalo.

We lost Montgomery to a season ending injury, which did not help the run. Our defensive injuries finally came back to haunt us with Allen being able to run out of the pocket and throw. Detroit Lions are still in the middle of the hunt and remember what happened last time we lost in week 2. Great teams find ways to rise up and find ways to win and regroup. Go Lions!!

My concern is that IF the Bills meet Detroit again (i.e., Super Bowl), they will have shot their lightning bolt and the Lions will be ready to win. But IF the Bills were to get to the Super Bowl, I'd almost wish that they faced off against the Rams.

The athlete Josh reminds me of the most is (this might seem like a stretch) is Sandy Koufax. Snady showed a lot of raw talent during his frist 5 years with the Dodgers, but didn't have it under contriol yet. He could be wild--Like Josh. But then, something kicked in and he was unstoppable, like Josh seems to be now. Josh, of course, has so many options available to him. I don't know, man. Been a Bills fan since 1962. It's been tough. But, maybe, just, maybe this can be their year. If KC wins on Saturday, I might start resting Josh and a lot of the others, as home field might be too much to ask for.

Moments when Bills fans knew: 2018: (The vision) A rookie Allen Hurdles Barr 2019: (Belief) 2nd year Allen diggs out a fumble, willing a first down and eventually beating the cowboys in his fist true moment in the spotlight. 2021: (Trust) Defeat in 13 second. But Allen is the franchise and its only a matter of time before he gets the big one. 2024: (The truth) Allen cements himself as MVP by dominating the #1 team in the NFL. 2025: ( )
