I'm not a fan struck person ever. But I'd be down meeting Ryan. GOAT for sure.

I had a job in which I was lucky enough to occasionally get tickets in the Diamond Club at Minute Maid Field. Seats were always right behind home plate, first or second row. More than a couple of times, I had seats next to or right behind Nolan and his wife. I never bothered him, but damn that was cool. Cooler than sitting next to former President Bush, too.

I remember being at the Big A when Nolan Ryan was pitching for the Angels, there would be about 15,000 people and eventually we would creep from the upper deck to the field level seats, great memories as a kid growing up in Orange County.

I'd say he's the Lebron of baseball. Great stats, very few championships to show for it.

That interview made my day. I spit out my coffee when he said that McCovey and Winfield were a handful! Rich, we're about the same age and your questions to Nolan had the same tone that I would've had. I felt like a kid listening to this interview! I'm a lifelong Dodger fan. Fernando Valenzuela is my Dodger Blue hero, but my favorite all time pitcher was Mr Ryan. The greatest I ever saw. I know Bob Gibson was similar but never saw him play. I'm so glad baseball is going to be back. I just wish that old school pitching came back with it. Starters going 4 or 5 innings is a joke.

Not just a joke... an atrocity. Pitching by committee is just another stupid byproduct of analytics. Management has become so terrified of their starters facing a batter more than twice, that nowadays facing them more than ONCE triggers a panic attack... because those computer-formulated percentages keep them up at night. I'm so glad I am old enough to remember baseball in its golden years. I hated Fernando, but only because he was so dominant. A Phillies fan is genetically incapable of liking the Dodgers. haha

Nolan was my favorite baseball player. Even though i did not watch alot of baseball. But i did finally get to see him in person. When he was inducted into the hall of fame. Also, Robin was the only player to get four or five hits in one game against Nolan.

Not much happened with Dave Winfield charging. He threw a punch and Nolan dodged it then they kind of locked up.

Bob Gibson used to tell hitters he was going to hit them prior to doing it! But Bob was a Golden Glove Boxer and I don't think anyone would have tested him. But the greatest punch from a pitcher came from an Indiana boy named Keith Shepard also a former Golden Glove Champion when he knocked Rueben Sierra's teeth out during a Spring Training Game!
