My dad and my uncle knew him from racing Cayuga Speedway in Southern Ontario and Oswego among others local tracks. Never heard anything but praise for the man.

Richie was one of my favorites as a kid, I'd see him race at Fonda and Malta he was just awesome!!!!!

I remember Richie at Albany-Saratoga and Fonda...Utica-Rome too. He was the best of all time in the NASCAR modified division. My favorite dirt driver was Jumpin Jack Johnson but I remember when Malta was a NASCAR sanctioned asphalt track a looooong time ago

I didn't like Evans cause of Bodine and my all time favorite Art Tappan. But when he would come to Long Island it was somthing I was privileged to watch. I went to Trenton in 74 to see them scream down the track. It's just a shame we never seen him in cup. I watched the greatest modified drivers in history and it somthing I cherish and have the pictures to prove it. Evans Charlie J Desarro Tom Baldwin and more we lost. But they died doing what they loved.

My favorite was the duke george Kent I watched Evans Kent Doug Hewitt jimmy spencer Maynard troyer Mike magic shoes every week at Spencer speedway they on occasion went to Oswego speedway for the big races bud 200 that era was when racing was real !! Man the times
