Happy Happy 80th Birthday Richie Havens! You are so very missed! I wonder what songs you would be singing now. Your voice was such a balm to the soul and mind.

This is so magical. Love Donovan’s original but this is so cool. Hard to put into words. Love his Dylan and Beatles covers. This just kicks ass!

He also penned the only cover version that Bob Marley performed in his later years. Indian Rope Man reworked as African Herbsman

I love how Ritchie made this sound all his own in his own way

My absolute all time favorite by this minstrel from Gault. His take on a Donovon original; so earthy, down-to-earth; his uniquely moving, kinetic energy guitar style; the truly 1 of a kind great Richie Havens. RIP

Thanks so much for this! I've been hoping this would be posted for many years…Dig the Donovan original but Richie makes it his own…...

[ faye kane using M's account because I was banned for sex stuff ] Not only by far the shittiest cover of this song, but he gets the words wrong.

Michael Roberts Sometimes words need to be changed to make them even better. I enjoy the way this artist interpreted songs. I have heard a number of artists change their original words later, to improve them. I appreciate songs being reinterpreted. Otherwise, one might as well listen to the original. Example, Misty, a jazz standard, was changed into a bluegrass hit by Ray Stevens years ago, simply by changing the genre.
