I guess for me the whole flip flop card discussion is like this. with you guys, you have a lot of influence and you guys will make a SUPER bold statement off rip like "those are trash!!" I think it sways people. Sometimes I think it's ok to just hold off judgement, but I respect the hustle cause I know the controversy creates views. As far as "WE OFF SUPREME" and stuff like that, again you guys have a lot of influence so when you say that, someone out there who loves supreme might feel condemned or ridiculed because you're someone they have a lot of respect for and 100% honestly it feels like high school when popular kids would make fun of someone for wearing something that they just wore 2 weeks ago. Hype manipulation. With great power comes great repsonsibility. I don't think there's a need for "WE OFF-" "NO SNEAKERHEAD SHOULD EVER-" "THESE TRENDS NEED TO DIE-" stuff. Don't tell us what you're off... tell us what you're ON. But that's just my 2 cents.

I find myself agreeing with Brandon on the clout chasing and profiting off someone's death. It's getting too much and its gonna get worse because we're starting to see eating cereal off a hype shoe be normal therefore it's gonna be more outlandish. Second, there should definitely be a grace period when it comes to reselling Kobe's. I definitely don't agree with profiting off of someone's death so soon. How would you feel if the person you loved the most passed away and the first thing your family does is start to sell their stuff? You'd be pissed. I've been telling my FNF that I can't in good conscience sell my Kobe's. Maybe 20 years from now but not anytime soon. I just can't
@ginolovesu4 жыл бұрын
Why is it any different for Nike to release Kobe's after his death and profit off the releases? As far as I know, and please correct me if I'm wrong, but Nike isn't donating all of the profits to charities or funds in honor of his death, so a commercial brand can capitalize on the death but the consumers can't? Business can be extremely shady and cutthroat, if you don't like it don't indulge in it, but as long as the market is there it will continue.
@seize34 жыл бұрын
@@ginolovesu Nike is donating $1 million to his Mamba foundation dude so there goes that argument. I'm sure Nike thought of everything when it came to releasing his signature line. I'm sure they delayed them for 7 months due to legal issues, give some time to Vanessa to sort it out, and to figure out whether to release them or not. If they didn't, I bet there would've been an outcry from fans. Had they not have donated that sum then I'm sure there would've been some upset fans, I know I would've
@ginolovesu4 жыл бұрын
@@seize3 and one million dollars is enough from a billion dollar company to you? Regardless, it's better than nothing, and like I said business is cutthroat so I really don't expect them to donate anything. Point is, there are bigger things we need to be worrying about than some hypebeast kids making some side cash from the hype over an athlete's death. It's dishonorable and unfortunate yes, but unless businesses are going to put their foot in the ground to stop it (they won't, they're businesses out to make money, or consumers refuse to give in, it will always continue.
@seize34 жыл бұрын
@@ginolovesu I never said it was enough but a million dollars is no chump change. That money will help tremendously to help undeserved athletes. What's enough to you, half a billion? Also, you would be perfectly fine if your friends and family members started selling your loved one's valuables? Just like I said before, it's immoral and I personally don't agree with it. I was just stating my opinion is all
@ginolovesu4 жыл бұрын
@@seize3 You're missing my point. I don't care whether Nike donates one dime or 10 billion dollars, business is business and they are out to make money or else we would've seen them donate ALL profits. I cannot fault them for trying to make money. I don't care what Nike does, nor do I care what a reseller does, if I don't like the behavior, I simply don't engage in it (Like yourself, I would never pay resale for Kobes after his death). However, it is not my place to determine what is "right or wrong" when it comes to a person/company trying to make money, as long as it's legal of course. I get the sentiment about the loved one's valuables argument, but it does not apply in this situation. Individuals/Nike are not selling Kobe's personal valuables, they're selling sneakers made and produced by a company that endorses him. He is paid to be a Nike athlete and to put a name/design to a line of their merchandise, these shoes are not his personal property being sold for capital gain.

On the last question, I’m pretty sure Nike’s goal on hype releases is less about making money and more about making hype. If they were trying to maximize profits on off-whites, they’d either make a bunch more to sell, or raise the price to whatever resale will be. Even though they’re leaving a ton of money on the table in the hype sneaker market, it’s really a drop in the bucket compared to the billions they make on normal shoes/clothes. The hype just makes their brand that much stronger so who cares if some hypebeast is hoarding their shoes and making them even more exclusive.

This was a fun video but I feel the "bootleg" section was really generalised. Taking someone else's design and just changing the logo is different from dismantling a already made shoe and switching with better material with the exact OG design as the final. I think what upsets the people about the warren lotus is not just the design but also the price point of 300 dollars while the "original design" is selling it for much cheaper of 95-130 dollars, they see it as a disrespect. I think one thing we need to look out is that if these "inspired looks" acts are more validated, it's not just gonna be corporate IPs but stretch out to to mid tier brands even to independent designers and artists. They can rip off others' works and easily say "hey, everybody does this nowadays, hate the game not the player"

If Nike really wanted to honor Kobe they wouldn’t have dropped al those shoes that that knew resellers would buy up. If Nike wanted Kobe fans to get they shoes then there wouldn’t have only been 1000 pairs on SNKRS. So resellers capitalizing on Nike’s mistakes isn’t their problem it is kind of wrong yes but that’s how the world works, also I don’t think there is much wrong with reselling the shoe because there is low stock, Nike knows that by making the shoes super limited only resellers and botters will get the shoes. If Nike wants to do that there is nothing wrong with resellers getting them cause Nike knows that’s will happen. But if Nike were to produce like 200,000 pairs of a Kobe and they were easily accessible then all Kobe fans could get them and they most likely wouldn’t have the same resale price, not to say there won’t be people without morals that will bot for like 50+ pairs and try to manipulate market. Anyway that’s my rant for the day please respond with your opinions. Thank you.

For an "artist" to literally take something that's already deemed cool and then switch it up slightly just so they can sell it says a lot about how creative they are.
