Many thanks for watching and commenting, Lager isn't my normal tipple but it was very nice and got better the further down the barrel. I need more barrels to give the beer a bit of time to age 🤣. Stay safe and well, SIR, cheers, Schnuz.

Seems to me like quite a pleasant lager to drink. 😊 Regarding your remark on the price vs bottom-bargain-beers: my philosophy is that I’d prefer to drink less of a tasty beer than a lot of a crappy swill going by the name of “beer”. As a home brewer I’m always chuffed to bits when I can make something really good at a price that is equal to a little above bottom-bargain. The fun thing is that more often than not, that objective gets achieved. I have to admit that after a few tries I gave up on brewing beer: the smell of boiling grains tends to make me gag. No idea why. I’ve absolutely no problem drinking the stuff once it’s finished! Neither do I have issues cooking with it (ever heard of Flemish Stoofkarbonaden, aka Carbonades à la Flamande? Highly recommend.) Never tried kits. Maybe I should. Thanks for the review!

I don't get the time to brew beer from the mash on a regular basis and to be honest the quality of the kits these days, especially when brewed to your own water profile with a decent yeast, makes the extra effort seem pretty much pointless. The mash kits that you can buy cost nearly as much as pre hopped extract malt kits so you only save any significant money if you buy the grains in bulk. After a very quick google I think you might mean Beef and Ale pie which is very tasty 😋. Stay safe and well, SIR (previously GIRL 😉 🤣), cheers, Schnuz.

@@Schnuz - Beef and Ale pie! Yum! It’s been ages since I had some! Stoofkarbonaden is a stew made with beer (preferably amber to dark IMHO). Mostly made with beef but there are great versions made with veal cheeks or pork cheeks. The star is the sauce. People will even order the just the sauce as a side to an order of chips. I’m going to check out extract malt kits. It might even be a fun present to give to my daughter’s boyfriend next month. He’s interested in home brewing, has already helped me with a couple of meads. His stepmom might shake her head at it but his father and brothers would probably be all over such a kit as well. I’d been taking a cursory look at pre-hopped and unhopped malt kits to make a braggot a few months back but shelved the idea. But tinkering around with one of those kits for a beer might be fun to do. The braggot’s still on my wishlist as well. Stay safe, stay sane! Hope the dogs are well.

Many thanks for watching and commenting. If I remember rightly that was a fairly decent beer kit and not too expensive as a kit and kilo beer. Definitely better than you can buy for the price, but there is better out there. It's all swings and roundabouts but not a kit that is one to avoid. Stay safe and well, SIR, cheers, Schnuz.

Nice video! Did you do water profiling? How long did you let it mature? I just did this kit and it is quite malty, and I'm not sure why.

Many thanks for watching and commenting. I have got my water profile, as it doesn't cost anything these days (should be available online, used to cost about £30), but I have done nothing with it. Our water is very soft and as I mainly brew kits I use what suits my water. Water profile does affect the taste but I'm not sure which way round it is, one way makes beer taste more malty and the other way makes it more hoppy. Stay safe and well, sir, cheers, Schnuz.

Why would you pay mega bucks for a lager in a pub when you can brew that lovely looking beer! It looks as good as any lager I have ever made👍👍👍

Many thanks for watching and commenting and I don't think the review did it justice as it was still too young, only the third pint off the pin. I need to find more room to hide pins where the wife won't see them as another week or two would have made it fantastic 🤣. Stay safe and well, SIR, cheers, Schnuz.
