This is the shorter video of our Adventure and Dual Sport ride with the Florida Adventure & Trail Exploration (F.A.T.E.) group at the Richloam Widelife Management Area and Withlacoochee State Forest. I heard about this group through FaceBook. Hopefully this video will be enjoyable and answer a few questions if you are thinking about motorcycle riding, jeep riding, or hiking there. These clips were taken on January 28, 2023 and recap about 4 hours on the trail. I am doing a shorter video because this one is about an hour of footage.
As communicated, kick-stands were up at 10:00am. At around 10:40 we stopped at a General James Bay Lake Trailhead (A Van Fleet State Trail 352-516-7384) for a bathroom break and then looped back to the parking lot at the Firetower Trailhead at 12:00pm. Most people continued riding after this break until about 1:30pm. The first part of the ride was about 47 miles so there was no need for a fuel stop along this ride.
As communicated this ride was designed for adventure bikes. We stuck to the graded roads and avoid the water holes. We did go around and through water but avoided the water holes that could sink a bike. You will see one stuck truck trying to come out of the woods on the video. Our organizer posted, "The experienced dual sport rider may find this ride a little boring, but this would be a good ride for beginner DS riders." It was exactly that. It rained a couple of days before this ride and you can see there is still a lot of roads to ride.
The address to where we parked was 38260 Richloam Clay Sink Rd Webster, FL 33597. Groups have to be permitted to ride there. The Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services Florida Forest Service issues these permits. On the permits there is the following address and number:
