A beautifully made video Mr. Trailblazer. Thank you! I hiked in the area of the Pelorus River and stayed in Rocks Hut when it was made from logs with an earth floor- in 1953! Since then I've hiked in many places in NZ & even do a little hiking now. Cheers!

Did a lot of tramping throughout the Richmond-range in 1988 and 1991. Great tramping-area, plenty of peaks to be climbed (Mount Fell, Johnson Peak, Mount Fishtail, Mount Richmond, Mount Ellis a.o.). Lucky enough, fine weather most of the time, really enjoyed my time here. This vid brings back great memories, thanks for uploading !

I am really enjoying your videos. I grew up in New Zealand but I haven't lived there for forty years. I always wanted to do the kind of tramping you do but I never did. I first went to Glenorchy when I was about twelve in the late 1960s. I thought it was a magical place and always dreamed of doing the Rees-Dart track. However, I don't like the physical discomfort of tramping and I am scared of heights. Thanks to your videos, I can take in the scenery from the comfort of my office chair.

An experienced tramper, Petr Cech, drowned in the Wairoa River in one of the eight river crossings in May 2023. You are right that this can be dangerous, particularly after rain.

Sorry to hear that. Yes, every tramper should be careful on this track because it could be very dangerous.

Not dangerous as long as you know what you are doing. I did this with parents when I was 11 years old.

Yup - typical NZ - not to be underestimated but if sense prevails a great tramp
