That would sincerely be my dream to work, volunteer to have access to historical libraries, antiques I adore them. I am a serious bibliophile.

The Hermitage was much more unique and far prettier. What a shame that more of its facade was not replicated.

Agreed -- The Hermitage by architect Henry McAlpin (1777-1851) had exquisite proportions. Since the plans survive, perhaps a replica will one day grace the mansion's original site.

Georgia has so much plantation land. Built and cleared by Southerners and then bought and modernized by rich Northerners.

I'm thinking the land was not cleared by these rich slave owners.

Henry Ford planted cotton and hired black people to pick it so that he could watch and relive the days of old as a true southern gentleman. The Fords would visit here during cotton season. Henry would give a $10 bill daily to the person who picked the most cotton. Henry Ford was a great American industrialist.
