That’s one of my old fishing spots! That’s very close to the spot where Abraham Lincoln landed in a small boat with eight Navy men…when Richmond fell in 1865. The ironclad vessel he was on could only go up so far, so they improvised with a smaller boat to take him to the falls. The soldier in charge of the expedition later said how terrified he became when he realized he didn’t have enough men to protect the President from any real threat…but things turned out well 😃

Hey Billy, you should go see Pineville Kentucky. They have an interesting history. My grandfather actually worked on the flood walls and gates that surround the entire little town. If you go to the cemetery there in the middle of town, you'll notice everyone is buried above ground. That's because so many caskets were floating after the flood. Also if you drive up to chained rock. You'll see this giant rock hanging out above the little town of Pineville and supposedly they attached a chain to it back in the day so it wouldn't fall on the town. 😂 I've always been skeptical about that story but it's a cool history.

Hey Billy the cool part about chained rock is a bunch of guys during the great depression got together and taken a chain off an old steam shovel and hauled that chain up the mountain. The chain links weight 7 pounds and it's over a 100ft long. So those were some tired mules and men 😂. They had to come up with some way to bring money into the small town and since there was always a tall tale about this boulder crushing the town. They thought let's put a chain on it. They drilled 4ft into that rock by hand and did the whole thing by hand. Just amazing.
