Gotta love the look of the green bruin, I have one still in the original blister pack with a honing stone and a brown bruin with the SS blade. It's hard not to rip open that blister pack I can tell you! The green scales and brass bolster really go well together especially when it has a nice patina like yours.

God I remember buying one of those when I was a kid at K-Mart back when you could buy good knives there. I had to have been about 8 and had some money burning a whole in my pocket I remember my dad saying you don’t need another knife of course I bought it anyway.😂

I’m 42 and I traded my grandpa jack the green old timer for his case sod buster. When he died my dad gave it back to me. Now I was 6-10 years old when I got it so I’d say earlier than 89 for sure

That’s a really cool knife. I have not seen one with green covers before. Love the patina. I have the Uncle Henry version and I love it. These are great edc knives. Loving the slips that you and Georgia Adventurer are making!

That's one good lookin knife, love the combo of brass & green Delrin. I bet those bolsters jumped on the train to patina town weeks before the blade started showing it haha. Every single thing I own in brass, copper or bronze loses it's shine literal days after hitting the air, especially in the summer. Fine by me, though, love the look! Your blade has such a fantastic, even grey patina going on...looks awesome. The wood grain imprint on that leather slip is genius! Another great video, man, thanks a bunch

That particular specimen of Shrade is a beauty...i really like the scales (some slipjoint fans call em "covers" I guess). Brass bolsters are a classic look. Sadly, Shrade has lost a step in recent years, and many knife nuts are leaving them..but the old stuff is great

I have zero interest in the contemporary Chinese Charade but luckily Ebay is awash in Schrade USA. Schrade had very large set of patterns and the fit and finish held its own against Case/Buck/Camillus. The Green Bruin is my favorite patten. Mine has the 440c "Schrade +" stainless blade steel. Dimensions are middle-of-the-road perfect. There is a late production (55 OT) that is a thumb stud/liner lock variant with a lanyard hole for anyone that would want a more modern one-handed operating version of this pattern. If you share my fetish for the Schrade brass bolster/green sawcut delrin look, you might seek out the "Skol" 1990s variant of the Schrade 8ot Stockman with an elaborate shield and the brass bolster/green delrin construction. Very Cool. On those days when I giveadamn, I'll treat the brass bolsters with car wax. It doesn't scub off the patina to a hard, bright, fresh brass look but rather shines it up and leaves a iridescent appearance and a slight protection. When you obsess over something, it's the details you obsess over. Not that I would advocate such. Probably not healthy.

At any given time I usually have some sort of dye on my hands too, life of a leather-craftsman I guess. Awesome video!! Have you thought of investing in a digital scale, to compare the weight of some of these old knives vs the newer ones. Keep the content coming, enjoying the videos.
