Get her another Buck 110. If she's happy with it you can get her one from the "custom" shop at Buck. They make them with different steels and Elk horn and you can get it engraved...

I bought 2 exclusive Buck 110s, with drop point S-30V steel, no nail nick, nickel silver bolsters, and cherry pakkawood covers. Had both engraved by the dealer. One for a best friend and Buck 110 fan, the other one for myself. ... Out of the box, both were so full of grinding/polishing grit, they were difficult to open. Flushed them out and lubricated them with nano oil, mopping up the black gunk in the actions with paper towels and pipe cleaners. The actions still felt very rough after at least a thousand openings and closings and many lubrications. ... The one for my buddy had the blade at least ⅛" shorter than the one for me. His blade had been hastily ground down shorter by a marginally competent employee. ... I snapped a Buck General blade right off at the quillions in the jungle in Vietnam in 1968. ... In this era of simply wonderful, state of the art cutlery, Buck will never make another penny from me.

I would suggest the Buck 285 Bantam for a couple reasons. 1- yes handles are plastic but for food prep that is good and they are textured. 2- it has a 3 1/8” blade which is small for big stuff but for little things it’ll work. 3- it has a mid mounted back lock and thumb studs so it can open and close one handed. If not you can get a customized 722 spitfire.

I don’t use my wood or bone folders for food prep bc I don’t want crud getting between the scales and the liners and living there forever lol I would rather use my Delrin knives for food bc I feel better if they are SS about washing them in the sink with the kitchen knives and leaving them open in the drainer I also take my Yellow Delrin Trapper with Pocket Clip to picnics so if they have chewy food and plastic flatware I have a knife I can use and rinse off Nice subject Michael And I’m happy to hear you are married I’ve watched a ton of your videos and never heard about her before God bless your family BtW those are some mighty beautiful knives I would keep em all but then I almost always do lol

Great knives!!! Ok.. you may not want to go this route but Opinels (made in France) make excellent food prep knives! They are inexpensive and come in a lot of different sizes, carbon, or stainless steel. They are classy and lightweight but slicey!!! I would recommend probably a no. 8 or 9.. I won't be offended if that's not what she wants.. LOL ... She should get what she wants for sure...

Morakniv Companion or Pro are nice inexpensive Swedish made knives great for food prep. Amazon has great prices. Plenty of color choices. I love Wharncliffe blades you mentioned considering, but the lack of a belly rules them out for optimal food prep.

Smith and Sons (U.S.A. made) "Mudbug" is a full size Sodbuster Pattern knife with Micarta handles with a lockback. I think it is D2 steel, but I'm not sure. Take a look at it. I think your wife would like it. It is pricy, about $99, but it has a full belly for kitchen chores. Like your wife, I use a Buck 110 light in the kitchen.

Hey man, don't front on those plastic lightweight Buck 110s!! I've been carrying that same knife for years, and it's probably the best $25 I ever spent (not counting dinner for two at Sonic).. Them are my size knives. You should get your wife a Civivi Qubit in Damascus it’s a beautiful knife super slicy and it’s aluminum so it’s easy to sanitize. Or Case Copper Lock With the wharny blade. My opinions another great video thank you 🙏

I honestly can't see why she'd use a folder for kitchen work when you can get a good kitchen knife for a little of nothing. To each their own though but just seems like a little bit larger fixed blade simple chefs knife would be much better. Just ran across your channel and really like it. Thanks

It was kind of a family thing for me. My Dad bought my Mom a yellow Case Trapper that she sat on the windowsill and sort of used as a paring knife. It’s not the most efficient tool in the world but when I got married to my wife I kinda carried it on ads tradition. I got her a Case Trapper. It was pink but she really didn’t like pink. So I traded it. I got her a Buck 110 temporarily until I found “the knife she REALLY wanted..” that just came. She now has a bark River fixed blade from a friend and viewer of the channel and I traded for a Copperlock that she fell in love with. We have kitchen knives. It’s just a thing .
