Another example of how good the 80's music was.
@donmiles45813 жыл бұрын
And this song is just a BASIC example 80's greatness! And I even tell people "Most people make fun of Rick Astley and his music, aka the 'Rick Roll'. But if you REALLY just LISTEN to his music, you would understand how talented he really is! So when I hear 'Never Gonna...', I actually turn the volume UP! And I'm not ashamed to admit it!"

Rick Astley may have looked an awful lot like Howdy Doody from the 1950s, but his voice had a lot of soul. "Never Gonna Give You Up" is another song that should have lasted longer. Well, guess what, thanks to the mighty DiscoCat it does. And it sounds great in 2020. Top notch. Phenomenal. And just plain fine.

@@kwijung lol wrong. all the disco purrfection version were done all long time ago by the music companies that owned the rights. get it? you can go buy this if you want. this was made in 1987 it even says it in the video at the 3:58 mark if you dont beleive me. look it up you will find it on sale if you want it. some people are giving DJ cat wayyyy to much credit. he buys them and uploads them that's it.

@@christineblack4654 What's the name of the 1987 remix that we could go buy, then? It's certainly not the Escape from NY mix, the Escape from Newton mix, or the Cake mix, although it possibly contains small samples/ideas from each.

Richard Paul Astley, born on February 6, 1966, was 21 when this song was released. He met his future wife in 1987, and they became a couple in 1989. Their daughter Emelie was born in 1992, and they married in 2003. He was a stay-at-home dad from 1994-2000. He was tired of the business side of music, and decided to raise his daughter instead. He doesn't look like a kid anymore, but the red hair and baritone voice give him away.

The way you brought the tracks in one at a time I never realized how syncopated the beat was in this song. One of reasons it's such a banger. There's disco-funk and R&B elements blended with 80's synth, which you've highlighted wonderfully here DiscoCat.

I, like so many others, thought that this huge hit was sung by a black man, only to find that he was a white, fellow Brit. Truth be told, it didn't really matter to me because I was listening to great music sung by a very talented singer. In all honesty, I didn't really find out about him or this song until I had first heard another song of his called My Arms Keep Missing You, that a DJ friend of mine played for me. DiscoCat, I have just about every remix of this great song, however, you have given this song a brand new spin on it and I am here for it. Once again, you've knocked it out of the park, I love it. Thank you so much for continuing to give us some amazing remixes, and as always, I am your biggest fan...

The most rad car at the time, this song was awesome, was the Buick GNX with it's turbo 3.8 liter engine, and blacked out looks, it posed a serious bit of competition for Corvette and Monte Carlos, and Thunderbirds at the time, one could boil the tires on the rear wheel drive G body, it screams most gnarly, even today and they are going for small sums, in restored or original with the plastic on the seats, not bad for a muscle car from 1987, the year I came into the world.

Wow!, Thanks DJDiscoCat for 'mixing' Rick (can't quite 'remember' if I suggested it to you...) I was 20 (1987) when Rick came on the scene, but probably 'acted' like I was '12'...he was cute, loved him & his voice...remember hearing it first during the summer...and was surprised this rich voice came out of this cute white kid with red hair...I thought he was black when I first heard him...sort of reminds me of the first time I heard Bobby Caldwell's "What You Won't Do for Love" in 1978 (love that song, and an absolute classic) great voice...and I thought he was black as well...such rich and fantastic voices they both have.
