Episode was phenomenal! Okafar was a solid one-episode character, pretty crazy to know he was one of the ones behind Operation Cobalt and that he had killed his wife and those other marines to avoid bombing Philly. They made him very complex for this singular appearance which is awesome. Also getting more Rick backstory, seeing more into the CRM, the dream scenes (which I genuinely found to be very sweet) and the ending.... Scott Gimple was cooking in the writers room today!

I agree! Okafar was so interesting, I’m sad to see him go. I love the added backstory and dream scenes. Yeah Gimple killed it with this one!

most locked into an episode i've been since season 6 of the main show or season 3 of fear. they killed it, i seen episode 2 it was good as well but i'm not gonna talk about that cause most people probably haven't seen the leak.

Same here! Most excited I’ve been for a show in a while. I’m so pumped for episode 2! I’m avoiding the leaks

@@SHOOKEARTHMEDIAunderstandable, probably for the best. the footage i saw was pretty low quality and had cuts in some scenes missing context.

When I saw the first episode of twd I immediately fell in love with it it’s so good I even have a Lucille bat that I got for Christmas it’s leaning on my wall in my room I’m looking at it right now such a good show but don’t expect me to like Twd destines that is nothing but a sin to the walking dead community

Same! That’s awesome, I need a Lucille bat lol. Yeah Destinies is garbage

Agree dude the best spinoff pilot, better than Daryl Dixon and Dead City, but it isnt the best episode the whole franquice imo. This is a good start definitively

So good! It’s at least my favorite since Rick’s final episode

"Scott Gimple...with this script we see why he's the guy in charge. He is good. He's doing smart stuff." Ummm...wait. 😂 Let's not get carried away. He's still the guy who made the bad decision to delete Chandler Riggs' character. Lol. The storytelling objective he thought he was achieving (Negan's redemption arc) could have been done more effectively with Carl remaining intact. I agree that this was an excellent episode. But the best part about it was Andrew Lincoln's acting. Thematically and cinematically, it was well conceived. But the Thorne character's accent is very hard to understand...a distraction. Other than her, the casting was on point, especially General Beale. He said he had never seen an episode of TWD before he got the request to play the role, so he relied on Andrew Lincoln to tell him about the show. Lol. A small clarification: Okafor knew Michonne's name because he found Rick's note in the bottle that he threw in the river in the series finale. Lastly, the story Rick recounts about his father's destruction of his own farm is a metaphor of his impending takedown of General Beale and the CRM. The image of the farmhouse and crops on fire is a foreshadowing of Rick's certain destruction of the most powerful military on earth. He's going to destroy it in order to save it, just as his father destroyed the farm in order to save the family. It's going to be interesting to see how he accomplishes it, especially without the unique skills of Carol and Daryl.

I totally agree about Carl. Gimple made some questionable decisions, still he’s written many of the best episodes, including this one.

@@SHOOKEARTHMEDIA You think so? I think the very best episodes are the series premiere and Nebraska.
@SHOOKEARTHMEDIA8 ай бұрын
Definitely, look at the early episodes he wrote for, there were some bangers. Yeah the first episode will always be the best or at least top 3

I dont want to look like mr.negative😅but after my 1st watch i wasnt really big fan of how they executed this pilot. Lot of jumping around and plenty of dialogues.. I kinda expected that with Gimple in charge😅on 2nd rewatch i was like it is decent but not 10/10.. More like 7/10. I have to say i still prefer Daryl Dixon pilot. It felt like walking dead while The ones who live was heavilly concentrated on drama, love story and characters Was little bit disappointed how they introduced Beale. They were hyping up this character in WB for so long and they just cut to scene with him and Rick like we already saw him
@PavolNemec-l4v8 ай бұрын
I am not really big fan of CRM in general. I wasnt even big fan of Commonwealth. I just think these big communities destroyed what we all loved about walking dead and that is surviving in the wild against walkers and commonwealth or even alexandria and CRM really killed that

@@PavolNemec-l4v They needed to explain everything in a short amount of time, I think the pacing of this episode was fantastic. We don't need to see every little detail about Rick, just get us up to speed with what he's been doing.
