When I first heard of Rick James singing Super Freak ,loved the tune, not the singer , then when I heard his soulful voice here , well, I fell in love !! His heart in every word of this classic love song , i did a complete turn around ,he was incredible, Teena belts out one of the most powerful vocals I ever heard , WOW !!! It has been literally 32 years ago that this song was released and I have always had a "Gut-Instinct" there was so much more to the original version of this song, It was too HUGE in the "Glorious" Summer of 1981! This is the VERSION I envisioned I would have heard, had Rick & Teena Made it to NYC's "The Theater" at MSG in 2004. I was excited to finally get 2C them together, bought my tickets & the SHOW was cancelled ONE day before, I was as HEARTBROKEN - then Rick Passed Away not long after!
