Yes indeed! Rick James himself said that that main riff was created when he was just fiddling around on his electric bass one evening and then the rest of the song came from there.

I like the super freak instrumentals better than the M.C hammer one but obviously they are basically and pretty much identical so I like both of them a lot. I think this one sounds better personally though. Whoever composed them originally is amazing and whoever edited them or customized them also did a good job
