The Surfaris wrote this song in less than 30 minutes and as a filler song to finish out the record they were recording. A very young Frank Zappa was at the studio when this happened. I'm sure the Surfaris didn't expect that song would be such a big hit and STILL be HUGE 40 plus years later. Great job guys.

Didn’t know that. Zappa shows up in the weirdest places. I was watching an old Steve Allen tv show from the sixties and a young Frank Zappa was a novelty guest. These guys obviously have talent, but walk into most bars with a cover band on a Friday night, and you'll find an equally talented group of musicians. There are just so many talented musicians out there, it's tough for anyone to really rise up above the masses, especially if they're playing covers. I will say, these guys are good with playing to the crowd. They have a good act for where they are playing.
