In twenty five years coal, oil gas will still be prevalently used everywhere, because electric vehicles are impracticable in the winter, and cold weather due to draining the battery just to stay warm in the winter, or a cool day in the summer. Those who have studied calculus, physics, chemistry, geology, meteorology, and astronomy understand that hydrocarbons such as octane, propane, ethane, methane, butane and many others will always be vitally necessary for Man's comfort and advancement. Hopefully someday, Titan, Saturn's largest moon will beckon as it has an ocean of hydrocarbons at the surface covering the entire world. Titan is the largest moon in the solar system, and a little bit larger than Earth's moon.

First time I have heard RR comment on oil. I think the same analytical framework one uses for mines/minerals is appropriate, as they are both extractive industries. Just one statistic that jumps out to me - rig counts in North America have been declining for 5 years - and are now at 70 year lows.
