If you've never been to South Lombok, it's kinda like a Bali v2. They are trying to improve everything that is currently broken in Bali. They have great infrastructure, easy access to airport, highway is in place ready to be widen. They even have gated community. You also have incredibly fast 4G signal network on all those hills with Gigabit Fiber available close by. The scenery felt much beautiful than Bali. You still find trash on those beach btw, but a bit less than Bali. The fact that they are building this area in 2019 makes a lot more sense. Chances are they will invest more money into local community and environment. From what I heard, the locals sasak are happy about this evolution. It leads to more opportunity for them. EDIT: You cannot buy a land in Lombok as a foreigner. You rent it for 80 years. (Right to rent). You're technically the owner of the land only if it's 2000sqm or less. Otherwise you need get sponsored by a local entity

And so what do you think will happen eventially to Lombok? Rich white man exploits relatively cheap land for sale by government officials looking to profit for their own benefit. Screw the locals and the wildlife, there's money to be made? Smh....sad earth. Sad people.

As the same happened to the island of Mauritius,where Sugar industry lost its title of main industry,to Tourism,where tourists became locals and built their businesses here,due to our exchange rates being so low compared to europe,thus allowing them to employ locals at the same shitty low government rates,while making a pretty packet for themselves! Happens in all undeveloped islands! What ends up happening,is the island loses its originality by becoming a european island so to speak! Yes,it's evolution but still...

Actually travelling around Lombok atm and it’s even more prettier in real life! The local businesses are going really slow because of the earthquake and lack of tourists. Highly recommend going to small warung/restaurants (recommend the other place- AMAZING calamari rings and watching the sunsets there is a benni wow). If you ever head to Indonesia go to Lombok you’ll not be disappointed!

​@@031neezy Judging by looking at the future plans for the place, you can see they are building lots of accomodations for average people with less money than Jon, lots of renting possibilities...they might have sustainability in mind and all that but looking at those ideas, money seems to be first priority. Otherwise they would severely limit building not create a huge turist spot. And thats just a part of it. Infrastructure, businesses leading into constant deliveries, trash, polllution etc.. It wont be like this for long. Jon will build his house, be part of the project and when it gets crowded sell for profit and move.

Hello Just love your vlogs. I have a question. You travel around the world from time to time. But why haven't you visit douchbags factory in Vietnam? I'm from Vietnam and i was adopted to Sweden 1975. I was in Vietnam and Saigon (Ho Chi Mhin city) 3 weeks ago. And i go back there in april 2020.
