Such a sweet and polite guy. I met him in 1989 or 1990 back in middle school when Extreme was signing autographs at Record and Tape Traders music store. I’m in line and as it’s my turn I say hello and mention that I play drums. Nuno calls over to the other band members and says “hey this kid plays drums”. Then asks if I’m in a band. So I respond “no, just jammin with a friend”. Nuno then lights up and says “that’s how it all starts! Next thing you know your parents are mad at you and your mom kicks you out of the house for being too loud” and they all laugh together and Nuno sticks his hand out to shake mine. Remember that exchange like it was yesterday. Was so personable and friendly. Amazing guitarist. Love that rocked out game of thrones theme song he did a few years ago before the series finale with Tom Morello, etc.

Good for you! GREAT story! Any moment in conversation with Paul would be worthy to take with you for life…BUT to have a guitar in your hand at that moment, to be playing a verse progression to song you’re still writing, that HE HEARS from BEHIND you, that catches his curiosity, enough for you to get a reaction from THE GOAT of GOATS -a compliment no less, and even a request for more (which is mind-blowing; well, if that’s not enough, to have the wherewithal to graciously and cleverly ASK HIM what he would do for a chorus, MAKES YOU WORTHY OF THE WHOLE EXPERIENCE! What a GIFT! You’re BLESSED! You know there are undoubtedly MILLIONS of us that DREAMED of this. In fact I had a vivid dream that I was writing a song with Paul in my studio/warehouse, chair to chair with our acoustics, and the John was in the next warehouse room listening. It was incredible and the song was incredible. I told all my writing’ buddies. I deduced that John being in the other was my way of dealing with the fact that he’s gone but that his influence was present! Lol …Fun stuff!

Just became a septuagenarian two days ago. Saw the Beatles on the Ed Sullivan Show and as an 11 year old growing up in Hawaii, was more interested in surfing, football and “Speed Racer” cartoons. I thought, “Ho hum,” but I grew up with them and the White Album had me retrogressing into a fan. Yes, magical times or were we ill-informed of worldly events, ignoring warnings by Orwell and even our very founding fathers? Paul, in an interview talks of finding out that a bloke across town knew the B7 chord and he and John (and others) jumping on a bus to seek this guy. Imagine what they could have created with an iPhone in hand.

I was mesmerized by the music, the 4 guys having fun, and of course the deafening screams of the girls. That makes sense because this chord has a 6th in it and the opening to Just The Way You Are also has a 6th. It's a very distinctive sound, not often used in modern pop music because it's difficult to resolve. The final chord in She Loves You is a 6th, and George Martin apparently tried to get them to take it out because in his mind it was musical "jazz hands" (corny and theatrical). But the Beatles didn't know it was a 6th chord, or how it was perceived, they just knew it was a new sound they'd hit upon that they liked and so they kept it. And, of course, they were right!
