I normally do my own oil. But I went to our Chevrolet Dealer and had their "corvette techs" do my 14' z51. Just woke up to 4 quarts of dexos approved oil on garage floor.

Yea your exactly right man. I fill it half full and then keep the oil level between the hash marks to prevent burping into the intake manifold. Works great and intake and valves r dry as a bone.

Great video once again with the main man (Chuck) who keep those vette's purring! Have to say BIG thanks as well to something you may not be aware. One of my sons deals with some disabilities in his life. Your videos from time to time that contain the Corvettes going up and down on the lifts when being serviced makes his day. Thanks much Rick as you end up being in a constant loop here at the home for this and all those you have provided. Have a great week and thank you from a grateful father.

One thing I do is wipe the surface of where the oil filter goes with a clean rag to ensure it is clean. The main reason is to ensure the rubber oil filter gasket has not stuck to the engine. A double gasketed oil filter will puck oil everywhere in due time.

Hey Rick did you ask Chuck why he didnt put some oil in the oil filter before he put it on the car ???
@ClaytonYatescarenthusiast2 жыл бұрын
Dealer techs do not fill the filter cause oem manufacturers consider it a risk. Cause someone could get dust in. Fills so fast that they say no damage is done.

Hi Rick! Great information, however i would like to check up on 2 things i saw . i only lubricate the oil filter gasket O ring with clean new oil....secondly depending on the vehicles oil filter position on the said block i ALWAYS FILL THE NEW OIL FILTER WITH NEW OIL THAT IS BEING PLACED IN THE THAT PARTICULAR ENGINE. This information was taught to me by a GM Certified Master Mechanic. These reason should be obvious . Thank you for your time.

Rick, any idea how many miles for first oil change for a wet sump Stingray? No one seems to know but thought for sure you would.
@RickCorvetteConti6 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching , it really varies and depends on what climate you are in....without a dry sump that first does not have to be done at 500, worse case, base don how you drive, at least once a year.....if driving a bunch, I tell folks 6 months or 6,000 miles....the oil life monitor may not be the best thing to use as it could take a loooong time to get low. Temp changes etc can make that break down slower or faster.... so again no set rule...hope a little of this feedback helps
