@@nightlife6899 in the end I didn’t get on with the Rickenbacker. However, that is just down to my personal playing style. It is a great, well made, guitar and many players understandably love it.

i reluctantly sold my 2000s 330 because i did not like the clear coat on the fretboard, or the feel of the painted neck (kinda slow for chords up and down the neck). However, I recently purchased a 330 matte black with no clear coat on the fretboard and it is just perfect. So glad Rickenbacker offered these options. They solve those two issues. I am not a fan of the black knobs though. They lack the character of the silver.

I have a 350v63 with the 3 toasters, the toasters sound amazing but I think the hi-gain pickups sound great too and maintain the Rick sound while also being more modern. I dont think Rickenbackers are a perfect guitar at all, aesthetically…yes, but the neck/fingerboard is pretty awful. I can say without bias that the Rickenbacker tone is the best to my ears, it has such versatility and purity to it, I don’t understand why they aren’t more popular. I like that it’s a niche guitar but still it’s surprising you don’t see more people play them. Gibson has a nice quality to its tone too but the fender strat/tele tone to me has no magic in it
