As an avid golfer for over 22 years, one thing everyone needs to know is that as a spectator/player, you don't disrupt another player's shot in any way at any time during the round. It's incredibly disrespectful since golf is a game of proper etiquette.

The other 2 examples you gave are team sports. There is a whole squad with you to shoulder the same burden. In golf, it's just you and yes people stand closer to you in golf than most other sports. But that's why you get the big paycheck.

Why are golf fans allowed to be so close to the players? Even walking from the green to the next tee, the space is so close a fan can reach out & touch a player. Move them back please. If the player hits a ball in the gallery, ok that’s the time to get close. ❤

New rule #1687-32: Any spectator who does this gets a 5 iron to the ankle by the player. Player must in turn use a full power swing or the spectator then gets 1 full power swing using a 7 iron to the ankle. Failure on spectators part results in advantage going back to player and so on… This new rule is guaranteed to either fix the problem or increase viewership.

Also fans are not that educated it appears, the amount who clap straight away as soon as the club makes contact with the ball, just out of politeness then the ball often lands off the green. You obviously don’t play golf. A continued and therefore expected noise can be tuned out. However a sudden and unexpected noise during the swing typically causes the body to flinch. If you don’t like the culture of golf then just stay away.
