I'm curious to hear how this compares to Mage Knight.

It has a Mage Knight vibe, but can it defeat the master? The fact that you are the bad guy in Mage Knight makes it much more fun to play.

@@warlord76i Please explain your reasoning, I am curious. Is it the theme or the mechanic?
@warlord76i5 жыл бұрын
@@MarquisDeSang Cloudspire is too easy for me,. i cant find any of the brain burning and interesting mechanics which is found in Mage Knight. This game (cloud) is like somebody took League of Legends and made from it a low profile version of it. And yes neither the theme or the mechanics i don`t find interesting... I wonder after Too Many Bones or Hoplomacus how did they come up with this uninspiring game. But that`s just me.

Superb video! I just want to be sure about the order which the scenarios are *supposed* to be played ... It's my understanding that the scenarios are *intended* to be played in the order they appear in the book. This makes sense as the first (Brawnen scenario) is the least complex of all, and as you progress through the entire book, the scenarios grow in complexity. So at 0:55, when you say that you're going to "dive in" to the Grovetender chapters, are you doing this with full knowledge that you're *jumping ahead*, or am I misunderstanding how the book is supposed to be played, in that the intention is to start with any faction?
@BoxofDelights5 жыл бұрын
Exactly - I say in the video that you are meant to play them in order. But you know, if it’s your game you can play however you like, so don’t feel like you have to follow the suggested way of doing it in order.
@bgm-19615 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the reply. Yes, I agree. I was merely addressing the way you framed the conversation. It could leave the impression that each faction's section (within the book) is independent of the other faction sections, and that the only intent is to play the chapters within each section in sequence. I hope that makes sense! Anyway, we agree, and all's good!

Nice playthrough Ricky. Just one question: at 24:20 you said that the goat cant retaliate if you move the hero away. But the goat has 2 range, so it should work anyways and it will retaliate. Am I missing something?
@Qwertzqwertzqwert5 жыл бұрын
And the chip with the toxic thing has also 2 range? Does it mean that not just the adjacent hexes are toxic, but the hexes within 2 are also toxic?

Ah wait. That's not a range icon, right?

I dont understand. You have two warbriars stacked with 3 health each but only have 3 health beneath them total? And with the attack as well. whats the point of stacking them if you can only make 1 damage to the spire?
@BoxofDelights3 жыл бұрын
It's a good question. The stats of the stack represent only the chip on the top. Once the chip on the top is defeated, the new chip will be revealed and the stack takes on that chip's stats. The point of stacking them is basically that they move together as one, without getting in each other's way, and potentially getting the lower chips further: the chip lower down, once revealed, has effectively started its movement further down the map. Hope that makes sense? R.R.

@@BoxofDelights It does, but i would prefer a different mechanic since you re fighting against a mob and not separate individuals.

I am thinking of buying this game but it is a rather large investment. After owning it for awhile, do you feel that this game is still enjoyable or are you losing interest? If so, why? I like some of the mechanics but I feel it may become stale after a bit. Love Mage knight and some have compared it to that game. If that is so, then I will probably be okay with it. Thanks for all that you do.

Hi! it's difficult to say, because I have many games that I play occasionally, rather than few games that I play a lot. For me Cloudspire is a forever keeper/ For me there is so much content with so much variability and replayability.

Hi Joseph, I am curious if you ended up buying this game and if so, do you still play it and enjoy it? How much replayability do you feel it has for solo? Like you I also love Mage Knight, and have been considering Cloudspire - I'm just not sure about the scenario element of it.. It seems like the replayability comes from replaying the same scenario over and over again with only a small difference each time (different market, different cards, different die roll results) and so you basically try to optimise your result in each scenario rather than having a new experience each time like it feels like you do in Mage Knight Solo Conquests. I'm interested to hear your thoughts!
@jdebarr3 жыл бұрын
@@jayplays568 No I did not. I unfortunately do not have a gaming group but just one other person who plays games with me. He did not feel it would be something for him and since Cloudspire seems to be a better one on one experience than a solo game I opted to pass it by. Most people I have talked to about this game suggested suggested that Too Many Bones is a better game.

Actually the more renown you get in one mission will carry over to make one of the objectives in the next mission more difficult to accomplish. e.g. # of towers to be built= # of renown achieved in the last mission.

D. Duguay They do look cool. However, I found that in solo, where spires have more upgrades than is normally possible, they sometimes cannot hold all the upgrade chips. I’m also still unsure how I feel about the reduced visibility of the boardstate when using them.

@@d.duguay3821 They overwhelm the map too much. They're too big and get in the way, quite honestly. So I came up with a different solution. If interested, I can post a link.

@@bgm-1961 yeah, I think they look quite nasty to be honest, which is unusual for components from a Chip Theory game, and every time I have seen them set on the board I just can't get past how much more cluttered they make everything look.
