Rick, another point. When putting the new battery in, it is MOST important to make sure that the battery is pushed to the left (ie away from the battery connection point) to allow the battery connection tag and plug clearance to move up and down. Otherwise the connection tag can be jammed in a protruding position and has to be folded over with all the risks of breakage.

One way I've found to keep all the small screws in order is to use a flat refrigerator magnet. You can place them on it mimicking the placement in the phone, and it also keeps them from rolling or getting knocked off your work surface.

Watched several guides on replacing the 6S battery because I've never done a phone battery replacement before and because I always wonder what each person that makes one of these videos is missing or not explaining correctly. Based on all the videos I watched, this one is definitely the most thorough. Just did my own replacement with a kit almost identical to the one used in this video (mine had a 2750 mAh battery pack) and had no significant issues. Hardest part is getting the screen adhesive lined up and stuck down just right but I got it after a few tries. Great video. Thanks!

This is probably the best video for the task. Thank you for making it. I spent $50 at the Apple store 6 months ago for a new battery. They broke my screen during the replacement, so they installed a brand new one. However, only after 3 months the "new" battery started draining again and the phone behaving in weird ways. No way I would take my phone to the Apple store again. Your video took away the mystery and the fear of replacing another battery by myself. The operation went great thanks to the potential pitfalls you pointed out in the video. After the installation I cycled the battery to full charge and full drain 2 times so far and it's working great. I doubt that Apple bothered with conditioning the battery. Perhaps that's why it started failing so soon.

Yay! I did it! Pulling the sticky stuff out from under the battery was tricky because the phone is old and they both broke. But a little patience and a credit card, slowly, slowly (not to dent or bent the battery) and I did it! I'm so proud of myself. I did have to use a magnifying glass tho. Man, those screws are small and I'm old! Thank you for your advise to keep the screws in order right from the start. That helped a lot. Turning the phone on before you close it, helped too - very smart. Great video - thanks a lot.

Extremely grateful. I bought a BOANV 2750mAh battery to replace my bad original iPhone 6S battery. I followed your video step by step and installed the new one and tested, it's charging now. A tip in my experience might be of some use to others: when pulling out the adhesive strips, I thought I broke the first one because the black piece on top of the white adhesive broke away and the white piece jumped back underneath the battery. For the 2nd one, I pulled it really slowly and had to change hand moving my other hand close to the bottom of the white piece to minimize possibility of it breaking, which was off in one piece. Then went back for the first one, while I was desperately looking for solution to a broken adhesive strip, I noticed a tiny piece of adhesive, a life-saving straw! I picked up it with the tweezers and pulled the tiny end super slowly as if it would break any time while changing hands. It was off finally in one piece. Thank you very very much!

Thnx Rick for the great video, couldn’t have done it w/o it. My experiences : 1) I had to use a hairdryer 2-3 times to finally get the seal soft enough to get the blue pick into the seam to open the case. 2) I believe someone already mentioned that it’s important not to get the new battery too close to the contact tab side of the battery compartment. Otherwise the contact ribbon is difficult to get properly positioned as well as the contact tab. 3) I had difficulty getting 1/2 of the new seal to transfer to the phone housing. I carefully removed the seal from the blue transfer film and gently placed it into position. The video, tool kit and hairdryer were an absolute necessity! Thank you !

Hair dryer was needed for me too! There was no way the ring on the provided suction cup could stand up to the force needed to make that little gap in the 2 halves otherwise! Another video said heat the phone until its almost uncomfortable to touch but I was hesitant for that! I heated around the seams of the phone until it was warm, kind of like the phone had been used too much and was heating a little, nothing to dramatic and that worked fine!

Best video for the 6s. Looks to me like you’ve done this before. I did mine and put it together after powering it up. Went to charging it and nothing happened. Took it apart again and checked connections. Connector next to battery connector must have dislodged when removing battery. Snapped it back in, plugged in charger and everything was ok. I recommend when you’re testing for the screen coming on to plug in charger momentarily. If everything checks out then close up phone.

Thanks to this video, I successfully replaced my battery. Before starting, I discharged the old one. After removing the display, I took out the vibrator to get the straightest pull on the adhesive strips. I believe this is why I got them out without breaking. I did not preheat the chassis. I scraped off gasket remnants with a toothpick, alternating with an alcohol-moistened Q-tip and puffs of air. I carefully determined the exact battery position to minimize stress on the connector. I had to deform the cable some to get a mate. It was tricky getting the new gasket registered. My big tense moment was mating the three display connectors. I couldn't feel them slipping into position, I had to make my best guess and just push until they snapped in. One turned out to be wrong and the display didn't work. Sweating bullets, I tried again and got it right. Challenges notwithstanding, my only regret is not doing it sooner. I can go all day on a charge again!

Great video, nice and clear instructions, thank you 🙂 Just replaced the battery on my old 6S; there were no instructions with the new battery so this video came to the rescue. I tied the screen to a tin of chicken soup using an elastic band! 😆 Several years ago I replaced the battery in my old 5S and removed the screen - I managed to somehow damage the screen connector (even though I was super careful with it), so this time I left the screen connected. I have had issues with my iphone 6s battery since I first bought it two years ago, but Apple insisted that my phone was not amongst those that qualified for a replacement, so I have just endured the endless recharging procedure sometimes having to charge it twice a day. Very frustrating to say the least. I decided to order a replacement battery for it and then watched several videos on battery replacement for my phone. Thanks for your excellent video! Of course, my phone wasn’t exactly like yours…the manufacturer didn’t expose the tabs under the battery for easy removal. I carefully heated up the back of the phone to loosen the adhesive grip, then CAREFULLY and SLOOOWLY worked the spudger and a couple wooden popsicle sticks under the battery from the top. Like the warnings given, do not bend or puncture this or any LiPo battery. The violent fire that happens is incredible and you can’t put it out with water.

I've watched three separate videos to the end on replacement. Yours, by far, was the most detailed. Will be replacing the batteries for both our phones when they come in tomorrow and your video is the one I will be using!! Re-listened to your final charging directions. I know the new batteries will have some charge in them. You say to charge to 100% and then discharge, then recharge. Since the batteries will have some charge in them when I get them, I presume it is not necessary to discharge first, then charge/discharge/charge?

I had a lot of difficulty and I'm afraid I didn't put back as many as I had taken out! Secondly, I found it impossible to get the peripheral seal to stay put, and gave up. I have told my better half not to drop it down the toilet. Thirdly I was very impressed with the quality of the kit, the same as yours, which included everything you needed. Good video, but use a rubber band to hold the screen to the can instead of tape. The tape ended up sticking to the back membrane of the screen and pulled it up a little. I gently tried to massage it back down, but it ended up putting small "wrinkles" in my screen.

Hi, small necro commentary Is it mandatory to unscrew the screen? Seems like it’s just more comfortable to work and to allow replacing the adhesive all around, but if we don’t do that step it should be fine just plugging the new battery in without bothering with all that wouldn’t it?
