i had just moved to San Francisco the year before from Manhattan, and heard they would be there, so took off to see them on my lunch hour as I worked just a few blocks away. Couldn't get past the foot of Market Street, it was so crowded and packed tight, but the sound nevertheless could be heard, and it was just a fantastic feeling to know I wouldn't be longing for the energy of nyc at all, as SF was just as magical and exciting musically back then. It was a great time to be living here.

This is awesome, and I was working in the Financial District in San Francisco when this was recorded - and didn't believe my co-workers when the told me that U2 was playing live in Justin Herman Plaza that day...big mistake on my part...

Of the variations of this song U2 have done, I'd say this is my favourite. It's not unusual for bands to experiment, even with covers, so it's surprising how rarely I hear of people preferring specific renditions.

Not sure I had advanced notice, or I think I would just have closed my business and gone to see U2, they are one of my all time favorite bands. I know the area well, usually on Fridays I would drive into the financial district and meet friends for a few drinks, and later perhaps dinner.

@cannonBall6750 Such negativity, me and my mates spend hours sometimes talking about and compring music, some of the best night ive had in some cases. we don't always agree with eachother but thats what you have to appreciate with any art form, personal taste plays a huge role. No one can be truly right normally, normally its just personal preferance but that isn't to say talking about music can't be stimulating on an interlectual and enjoyable level. Its sad you cant do the same without anger
