Wack opinion The only really bad episode with Rick and Morty is the dragon episode. And only cause its super fucking boring on a rewatch. At least the sperm episode has funny jokes on rewatch. This season is top tier, up there with season 3

what killed Morty's game here was the dog war stuff, Not rick, which Morty escalated all on his own. all Morty had to do was bring the wine, but he kept only bringing 1 or 2 bottles back with intentions of keeping one for himself each time when they had 3 full crates of the stuff.

I’d consider getting HBO Max, it has all of the rick and Morty seasons as well as ALL DC movies, and ALL cartoon network movies and shows. If your going to be branching out it’s a better investment than Crunchy roll if imma be real hahahaha.

Probably because the writers got tired of people worshipping rick. They started writing him as having godlike knowledge and power because it they thought it balanced how pathetic and broken a man he was. You were supposed to pity him and hope he gets beaten and humbled, not idolize him.

You can have a godlike pathetic character as well as a powerless strong character. Typically people judge which they prefer based on how well they're written, but feel free to have a favorite character archetype. Unless you're someone who enjoys writing trashy escapist self insert power fantasy, most writers tend to have no interest in writing a perfect godlike character. Typically that's a writing trope most commonly associated with poorly written fanfiction. It's boring to write and pandering to that audience usually doesn't usually get you any critical acclaim. People tend to make fun of that writing genre as only enjoyed by people with poor taste, indicative of unhappiness with their own life and low emotional maturity (I say this as someone who enjoys that genre). The writers of R&M certainly weren't intending to write that kind of story. They thought it would be really interesting to write a godlike character if they made him miserable and broken. Exploring those contradicting sides is what made him interesting. Then they began to realize that some fans did not think the character was pathetic, they thought he was cool and were sympathetic to his terrible worldview, even idolizing him as a role model. There are interviews where the writers are kind of disgusted with their fans, expressing how they aren't the audience they want. They didn't want to support the creation of a fascist incel icon justifying asshole behavior, so they wrote more stories that made the moral of the story more clear. Season 4 episode 1 was the most clear example of this where Rick kills a Nazi Morty who is a stand in for those kinds of fans. The point of sometimes taking away his godlike untouchability is so those toxic fans can better understand the person they idolized.
