Grant plays in Florida, wide open fairways with tons of roll and always great weather. In the UK he struggled to get the ball in play, sometimes not hitting much further than 250 yards into a breeze. He was clearly not in his element. Also the "he had borrowed clubs" argument is bull. He played some great golf in other videos and this was the last video of the trip, he was used them.

Grant did the same video with Erik Anders. Erik (8 handicap) teed off from the forward tees and Grant (scratch golfer) from the tips. I don't think he was trying to make Rick feel small. He just assumed Rick was playing to maybe a 5 or 6 handicap, and rather than give strokes, cut the course by 1,000 yards for him. If you're not used to playing from the forward tees, it can actually throw your game off because of the weird yardages you'll have into greens. Grant knew what he was doing by proposing that game.

Hey Rick. Good golfers who have played a long time know there can be huge ups and downs in their game, no matter how good or experienced they are - even tour pros. There are a variety of reasons that can cause this (age/work/injuries/time/family/body changes/etc). However, good golfers have the fundamentals to eventually figure it out (or make changes) and quickly get back on track to find out what works. The ones who have been watching you play for a long time know you're a good player and there is no doubt (you're a golf pro and you've been playing all your life). We also know you haven't been playing your best golf. But rest assured that we always knew you had what it takes to get motivated and get back on track, which is why we kept on watching. There is a big difference between good golfers who don't play well and inexperienced golfers who don't play well. We know in the grand scheme of things that you're a very good golfer and have our respect. Glad you've re-upped your game again.

I don´t think he owes Grant anything. Do you really think Grant´s intent was to help Rick? Basically if you want to nudge someone you´ll provide a more measured response in your exchanges and not belittle them by going "over the top." To me, the comment smacks of ego and immaturity. In fairness to Rick he´s reacted to the insult in a positive manner, which is of his own doing.

Would Jordan be the guy we know today without the challenge like the Pistons? No. Were the nice about the way they pushed him? No. They were trying to rip his head off....and he responded. Not everything is "nice and soft nudges". Based off what we have seen the last 12-18 months Grant was not that far off on his comment. Although a bit cocky in context Grant is young and perhaps a bit naive. Huge respect lost for Rick posting this.. trying to smear Grant's name. Probably feels a bit threatened at how up and coming he is. I love watching Rick, but he's very insecure about his golf game, you can tell by body language when he's playing bad and others are playing good, it seems all about him. Let's face it, Grant had a bad day and Rick had a good one. Grant wins 8-9/10 times were they to do it over again. It's not surprising that Grant wanted to handicap the match in some way, if he'd been watching the Channel of Rick playing like a 12 handicap on the break 75's, then it was absolutely the right call. I think Rick's ego is just bruised here and it shouldn't be taken out on Grant (even if it's posting the video in a jokey manner), there's still an underlying jab in the background and itll have an effect on what the public think, especially when your channel is as big as it is. I just think this whole things is HILARIOUS. Grant has been playing with the Bryan Bros so much lately and all they do is chirp each other so Rick got a little taste of it and ruffled up some feathers 😂 good thing it pushed him to level up instead of being a pre Madana about it and getting to his head all crazy 😂

Rick wouldn’t last a day with the chirping that goes on when the Bryan bros are there

this will ultimately bring more views to the rematch & that's what we need for you tube golf. all love at the end of the day.

don't forget he was in a completely different country as well.... his yardages were playing different , he had jet lag. I love rick and his channel, but Grant beats rick 24 out of 25 times. I don't think Rick meant any harm with the headline at all. it's just that - a headline. Butttttttttttttt yea

Please please do an 18 hole strokeplay match with Grant where you play off the proposed tees😅 We all want to see this.

To be fair to Grant I think the video idea was more of a challenge video to Grant with the most likely outcome that you would crush him. I don't think he meant that you need to use the front tees to compete

I think the game of golf is far more complicated than these comments (so far) try to to explain and most and foremost ,.. like you Guy mentioned a hard sport,.. But do not forgot Rick is a Pro. I also remember when you Rick and Sir Nick Faldo discussed and the importance of keep practising, practise, more practise,..⛳️😭👍

Something needed to change. Grant is very competitive under that smile he shows. Felt like Rick was getting soft the last few months with how bad his golf game has been..glad Grant lit the fire. Target on the back for ole' ricky now after that podcast!!

Funny that Rick took that to heart when they shit on Pete Finch a year or so ago. Seems like they can be critical but can't take it.

Short answer is Guy and Rick were being honest to be fair, but they said Pete couldn't make it to the open. He wasn't good enough. Rather than pump him up they sound like Jelous friends.

It was a fantastic series to watch, congrats Rick belatedly. This video explains something that I saw in the video where Grant recruited a couple of Yanks to play on the USA side vs UK's Rick & Guy. One of the Americans was surprised at Rick's good play and said something to Rick that made Grant have the quintessential look of embarrassment upon hearing his teammate's query. I bet that look had something to do with knowing the reception of his back tee/front tee proposal. That explains it. 😆

Grant is a far superior player than Rick. Zero debate.

You should both keep a tight handicap so there’s no drama. Let your handicaps determine who gets shots rather than attempting to handicap a match any other way (i.e. back tees vs front tees).
@pgyoutubers6568 Жыл бұрын
Haters would say what they have to Rick. That fact is you played really well in that match against Grant. Your down swing had a bit of pause on most shots you played in that match which definitely is big change in your swing and I have seen people gaining more control over their shots with that pause. So, nothing to take away from you. You worked hard for this match, of course with some help from James (a world class player) and all that hard work paid off. Excellent performance under pressure!!
