IMO, the content creators on KZbin are the ones who are helping to grow the game more than the pro tours at the moment. Channels such as yours, Grant's, Good Good, GM Golf, Pete's, Bryson's, and so many others are bringing people together and making golf fun and relatable. I just subbed to Ryan's channel as well. Great interview, as usual.

Rick - "I can't connect with the teams" then goes on to say the very next second, he supports Lewis Hamilton and feels the Mercedes team is English, cause for some reason he's stuck on teams focusing on nationality to give him something to root for, but doesn't realize Mercedes is German. Talking LIV, the current team element doesn't work for me. I think they should have more of a match-play format. So, if they stick to the 3 days, then day one and two are the individual stroke play days with no team element, then on the third day they have the teams split into pairs and complete against other team pairs in a Ryder Cup match play format, morning fourballs afternoon foursomes. The results then go into a points league across the season and each team plays each other at least once. That would peak my interest more than the current format.

I don't get the whole "it's too fractured" and "players here players there" arguments. There were already a bunch of tours prior to Liv. Football/soccer is the most popular sport in the world and the best players aren't in a single league nor tournament. Closest thing is the Champions League, but even that one is bound to miss out on "the best", which is why the whole European Super League thing became a thing. Also unlike the best football leagues in the world, watching every single event of the PGA Tour-which was supposed to be the best-made absolutely no sense even to a devoted golf fanatic. Too many events and always had to look up if the field was going to be strong. The only sane thing to do was to only pay attention to the 4 majors.

Difficult to see your point about the LIV top leaderboards, but if you meant the PGA Tour top leaderboards where we rarely see any stars anymore, then it makes sense. But about LIV, take a look at the top 15 Sunday in Mayakoba and tell me if this isn't a real super star top board nothing really is. Just saying.

2 questions for Ryan: Playing the LIV Q event didn't make him loose any chances with the PGA sanctioned events? And second, I believe the PGA owns the image rights of its players, I believe they can't just generate content on their own.

I'm really sad about the state of golf. The thing that bothers me the most about it is that the pif are just throwing so much money at it that it is making the PGA tour have to try to up their purses. It's hurting sponsors of tournaments that have stood by these events for years and years. The Saudis don't care if they make a monetary return on their investment in golf. They are using our great game like another game to improve their world image. I just hate how things have turned out. It's just not all about money. Without the money these players are getting for joining liv, they wouldn't be there. It all just feels so hollow. Just knowing the huge fracture it puts in the game would've been enough to keep me from joining. I mean, for goodness sake, is the multiple millions of dollars these guys were earning from the PGA tour seriously not enough? I personally enjoy watching these young, hungry new players on the PGA and dp world tour that have had an opportunity due to the open spaces. Lastly, Adrian meronck gets voted for and awarded dp world tour player of the year and then turns around and abandons his tour when they need him the most? Come on. That's a pretty d*ck move if you ask me. There's no loyalty anymore anywhere it seems. I think these guys are just spoiled ah.

LIV guys would still play some Tour events if they would allow it. PGA got exposed for who they are. Was golf way better before LIV? Yes. But it’s soooooo hard to get on Tour, almost unfair. LIV on the other hand is taking the “club” style format similar to soccer and how they organize the league. Their idea is that they can start younger leagues, and find talent that way, and bring them up through the club. It’s going to be more of a world-wide league, like soccer. Also, guys like Rory and Jordan aren’t even playing every week on Tour, it’s fucking annoying. Their schedule is filled with senseless events. LIV you get the best guys every single event.

I don’t get why people think golfers owe extreme loyalty to an organization when that’s what golfers do for their livelihood. People move to better situations in their careers all the time. No one loses a minute of sleep when a company like Apple gives an executive from Microsoft a huge pay increase with less work to do. I just don’t get why people get so butthurt when a golfer takes the same deal. LIV is offering some of these guys guaranteed generational wealth and more time with their families. I don’t blame any of them for putting their family and self ahead of a league and fans who will drop them the minute they start playing poorly or have a long term injury. From a fan’s perspective, sure, I’d like to see all the best players play in the same tournaments. But I don’t hold it against any of these players taking these LIV deals.

If you don't see all of the best players in the Majors anymore...will it still be a "Major"? I would think that if the Majors don't want to follow OWGR's path and become as irrelevant, they would have to allow and invite LIV players...otherwise they run the risk of just loosing their aura and becoming just 4 more PGA Elevated Events

Evaluating the state of the Golf World only by evaluating the professional component I think is a very poor way of looking at the game we love. The reality is golf is much, much bigger than the professional level and the truth is golf has grown enormously since COVID. Most people that I talk to enjoy playing the game more than watching others play it. Don't get me wrong I enjoy watching the pro's but I also know it's a different world to us the majority, who play the game primarily because we love it regardless of how good or bad we are at it. The professional game is being put to the test and it's a test if change, the sport of cricket would be a great example if embracing change and it's time golf at that level did the same. When you say something like it's in a poor state, it really sounds like a dinosaur speaking. All change involves some stretching and pulling, some perturbation prior to the rebirth, that's where it is now. You can be a traditionalist and be left behind or realise it's time for change, it's happening anyway so you may as well embrace it instead of the constant negativity.

both tours are becoming diluted without doubt there's decent players on them however your looking at only a handful on each tour that will probably win each event.
