“We need the PGAT to help the LPGA”…how about get more women to support women? That’s the problem. Women don’t watch/support sports at the same rate men do. That’s just the bottom line nobody wants to admit.
@3nCounting7 ай бұрын
Personally, I think more men watch the LPGA than women do. I watch it and my golfing wife doesn't. I prefer the LPGA because their swings are pure and distances more relatable to my game than the freaks on the PGA Tour.
@back2back3797 ай бұрын
There's just no one on the LPGA who's brought that star power and hype, that charisma to go along with being a top notch player. Also, it's a deep rooted problem in society that has led to this. Too much politics from the sports world has led to people tuning out, too much of athletes and broadcasters attempting to push their agendas and trying to lecture people on how they should think. People want to just get away from all that crap in the world and just watch sports.
@Tom_Swift7 ай бұрын
Also plain and simple, women's sports just isn't as popular as men's and there's absolutely nothing wrong with that, it's simply a matter of interest. How many women are into fashion, makeup, etc. compared to men? There are endless hobbies and interests that differ between men and women. Sports, with golf in particular, just isn't as appealing to women as it is to men, and again there's nothing wrong with this.
@deetee22197 ай бұрын
Well said. The USA womens soccer/football team were complaining about not getting paid as much as the men. It turned out the women are actually on a higher pay rate than the men. “It's because the men's World Cup generates $6 billion in revenue, the Women's World Cup generates $131 million in revenue. “If you want to talk about pay disparity, the Women's World Cup players get paid out 20 per cent of the total revenue. “The men get paid out seven per cent. I call for equal pay for men and women. Give the men a pay rise.

Another thing to consider is the substandard production value of Lpga, Champion's tour, European tour etc events. When you compare the quality of the cameras used for Pga tour events to the other tours, it's like the other tours are using 8mm video. Here is an idea to fix to PGA Tour/LIV dilemma. The biggest issue now is the separation of talent, too many events. Majors will have some extra excitement with the inclusion of some of the LIV guys. I would combine the tours, sell the LIV model teams to sponsors (akin to F1..team redbull etc.), Have a sort of split season with mostly the PGA Tour individual tournament model with Majors, etc. Then you have a short season of team golf and more fun type events (combo tours, skill based events, shootouts, etc). The logistics would need to be ironed out, but it could work out for the benefit of the players and the viewing public.
@ben29427 ай бұрын
What do you do with the players that stayed? Can't NOT give them some type of cash out. I like this idea and would make winter golf tolerable, but I am curious how the overcome the money part (other than just give everyone a stack of cash because they can)
@DanGranz727 ай бұрын
@@ben2942 Tough question. Not sure how they would navigate. If you give them some cash it somewhat evens out the whole LIV departure thing (to an extent). However one could argue that if they did not leave this might not have happened, so it is a tricky subject. I think that anyone on the tour who was offered a contract with LIV and turned it down (assuming they merge) would be compensated. Then when those things are sorted and feelings are dealt with, you move forward with the new tour.
@malgeo3187 ай бұрын
This is just an idea: for the team golf thing. why cant they make it more akin to F1. Have the teams based on the equipment manufacturers, if i love playing Callaway stuff and i see there is a Callaway team that can only use those products that would be very interesting. Team Taylormade and Callaway and Bridgestone all going at it to sign their favorite golfers and have them compete in team format would be incredible. They already sponser the golfers. This could also give incredible exposure into the R&D stuff, make it so some of the newest things these companies are working on can be used in the matches much like F1 upgrades happen mid season. dont make it as strict as a PGA event, make it more fun and interesting.
@ben29427 ай бұрын
Completely agree. Plus, brands who want to get into the game like Malbon or Takomo Golf can have a buy in for a team and slowly they can expand. Really cool idea for winter golf.

The Players looked like a minor league event without 3 of the 5 last majors winners. I am ok with all these new PGAT winners this year. Why not just limit these PGAT events to American golfers? It is called the regional/national - Professional Golf Association of the country America after all. The Players was great compared to the PGAT event where it looked like a beer bash - and some PGAT fans pissed themselves on TV/video. Maybe the Players winners can at some point - earn spots on LIV/or whatever the new big money International Tours - pay? The Players doesn’t compare with Majors without top International Golfers all fairly ranked. Hope golf tours start to collaborate & the world rankings are taken over by a new credible entity.😀
@patce9997 ай бұрын
Foolish dribble from a LIV shill. The Players Championship this year was stacked with talent and tremendously entertaining. Five of the top seven finishers at The Players have each won one of the last nine majors played. Six of the last nine major winners were in the field. Add Shane Lowry, Morikawa & Woodland and you have nine major winners in the last five years. Only six major winners from the last five years currently play for LIV ... Mickelson, who is hardly playing world class golf now, is one of those six. TPC Sawgrass has some of the best finishing holes (16, 17 & 18) I can think of. And, overall, the fans seemed pretty well behaved. I'm not a big fan of the 16th at Phoenix either. It reminds me of a LIV event. I don't blame the likes of Rahm, Koepka, DJ, Cam Smith & Niemann for chasing the PIF money. But, those decisions by those players have fractured golf and watered down the fields everywhere.
@jimlangdon19477 ай бұрын
@@patce999 Hey - Phil tied for 2nd in the last Masters. That is world class. Like I said - present LIV players have won 3 of the last 5 Majors. If the PGA players are playing more for tradition than money - why is the PGAT bothering to increase prizes at PGAT events? And why is PGAT not staying as a not for profit Charity Organization? I think we can all agree - we at least don’t want to see drunken PGA fans pissing themselves at a PGAT event on television. I am just glad Jon Rahm didn’t have to see and play in that embarrassment/disgrace of the PGAT. I think that can be fixed via the LIV talks with PGAT players interests input. That has never happened at a LIV event - so your prejudice is pretty obvious. I am a fan of all golf tours including ones like the Canadian tour. I would love to see the PGA (Professional Golf Association of America) fields restricted only to American Golfers. Why wouldn’t a Professional Golf of America not be just for promoting American Golfers? They are good enough.😀 There are plenty in the USA? Do you support taking away opportunities from American Golfers at PGA events and making the PGAT a profit seeking money grabbing tour now?😀 All pro golfers play for money, otherwise they remain as amateurs. Let the elite golfers like John Rahm, Phil, Cam Smith and perhaps - Rory looks like he might join LIV/International Tours to play against the best. Rory says he wants to (he advocates a LIV merger right away) & there is no point in Rory playing against weaker PGA (only) competitors and only to be cut at the Masters, as what happened to him last year with his phoney #1 world ranking. Funny & interesting! Rory played well in Europe last fall - when he was back amongst the great International players again. Rory certainly doesn’t deserve the abuse - of being a sacrificial lamb of PGA Executives that expense pro golf tours for personal gains. The best thing for golf is if Rory takes a $600 Million package with LIV right away.😀
