Hi I’m Rick Shiels, welcome to my channel RickShielsPGAGolf. This KZbin channel is designed to help you play better golf, also to help you enjoy your golf more!
I specialise in golf club reviews, golf club unboxing, golf club news, golf club head to heads, and all about golf clubs.
I also want to make you play better golf by providing coaching video on all topics about golf, how to fix your slice, fix your hook, help you drive the golf ball longer, hit your irons more pure, hit your irons closer to the hole and help you draw and fade your golf shots.
I will also help you lower your score by chipping better by stopping you duff and thin chips, pitch the ball closer and also create backspin. Also I will provide you help to putt better and hole more putts!
On this channel I also make fun and entertaining golf content based on crazy and sometimes “gimmicky” golf clubs. I like to cut through the marketing hype about products and I like to give you the honest truth about golf equipment.
If you enjoy the channel make sure you hit subscribe and also tap the notification bell so that you are always notified when I release a new video.

I actually love Augusta's no phone/filming policy. It wouldn't really make sense for other courses, as Augusta is the only tournament to host a major every year, but when the masters is going on, everybody is tuned into the broadcast. You aren't distracted by all the social media fan pov videos or pictures. You really don't ever get to see much of the course outside of once a year in April. And that makes the Masters so much more special and my favorite event by far.

This guy is very good at what he does! Rick's best video in nearly 200! In this 33 minute video he answered the question so many of us ask. What is it like to play Augusta National. His analysis was pitched perfectly between detail, thoughts and numbers. Very enjoyable. Hope to see a straight Break-75 in 2024. Or, even better, a Break-75 from tournament second shot positions, using short lay up tee shots from members tees !!

You almost HAVE to try the hero shots if it's the one & only time you'll get to play a course like that. If it was a comp, or your 2nd/3rd trip there, then you play safe, smart, trying to score well. Kudos on playing a decent round at an iconic course, and most importantly, having fun.

Rick…..thanks for the video. I started to zip through it thinking I didn’t want to listen to someone remember and describe a shot by shot review of 18 holes with 80-some short stories. I blew through it and landed on your description of 18. It was sooooo interesting that I went back to the start and listened to the entire video. It was a really interesting detailed report and I loved every second of it. The drawings really helped me imagine each hole. Unlike many golfers who can recall every hole on a course, I cannot. So even though I have probably watched every Masters since the late 70’s, when someone talks about number 12 or number 2 or whatever, I have no idea if it was a par 3, 4 or 5 or any other details. BUT…..the second I saw a drawing I could recall the hole with crystal clear memories. BTW, I belonged to a Donal Ross country club from 1995 until 2004 and played it at least twice a week. Even after all of those years of play, if someone was telling a story about being on # something, I had to go back into my mind and imagine #1 or #10 and work my way through the course in order mentally to imagine that hole. I guess my mind doesn’t work that way. I had a hard enough time just recalling the shots on one hole to mark my scorecard….LOL…..maybe that was because there were so many shots to remember on each hole. Anyway, thanks for the video…..it was outstanding.

I have been lucky enough to play it twice. I can do the same thing, I know the clubs I hit on each shot and what scores I had. As you said people watching on TV can't realize the slopes and hills of the course and while everyone knows the greens are the fastest around, you can't understand that until you putt on those greens for the first time. When you are a guest like that they treat you well and you will never forget it. Glad you got to play it, hopefully there will be a next time for you and you will get to film it. I shot an 86 the first time I played and 74 the second time.

Having watched the Masters for 50 years or more I know how tricky those greens are. I think +10 is a very good score for a first attempt (+5 of that was on 2 holes). Would have been wonderful to get a birdie but sadly not to be. Great graphics (especially helpful for the front 9 which i don't know so well because of the limited coverage).
