Constantly talking about everything except the SHOT IN FRONT OF YOU Rick!! “I need x birdies to score 75” “My goal was to not make double bogey”… before you’ve even putt for bogey! “ this won’t work tomorrow against Justin Rose” “I need this to boost my confidence for qualifiers” On the 4th hole you talked about the past 3 holes as you stood on the tee box and once again walking up to your fairway iron. Pay attention to the shot at hand and stop frolicking about!!! You’ve been playing golf for decades, how can you not adapt to the concept Rick?!

Golf is a lot harder when your mind is elsewhere, you play your best golf when you’re not thinking about your swing and you’re in the moment. It’s a lot harder for Rick to get in that mindset when he feels the need to provide commentary about the next shot, the previous shot, the need for x amount of birdies. We all see every shot he hits, everything can be criticised. I think working on his mindset and not the golf fundamentals would benefit Rick the most.

@@robertcourt8593 I think its more projection pre round. Once he's actually out there he has the same look as the meme, that's crying behind the mask when hes talking positive.. He just does not have the confidence to pull off these shots. Especially around the green. Justifying why putter is the play, when the reality is his fear of chipping is putting that putter in his hand from 25 yards off the green, leading to a "4" putt DBL Terrible course management especially at 26:06. Why play a fade on that hole when there is a bunker to the left? Just go straight at the pin. Id say the majority are rooting for Rick to succeed. I think he needs someone to talk shit to him lol. Like when Grant mention that Rick play from the front tees. Guy is to passive, and lets rick walk all over him. Get Finch in there to give Rick an absolute ASS stomping. Rick, thanks for all you bring for our entertainment. My friend, please ignore the negative and harsh comments. And please, for your own sake, dedicate yourself to improving your mental approach to golf. You are extremely results-focused and driven, and from what I can see, this is cutting into you simply enjoying the game. You put a lot of pressure on yourself, and you’re stirring up anxiety while you’re playing rather than calming yourself and resting in the fact that all you have in front of you is the shot you’re about to hit. Play the next shot to the best of your ability, then do the same again until the 18th hole is done. Your “best” today may not be your A-game, but it’s what you’ve got *today*, so don’t walk with a swagger or a limp around the course, just move forward and play the best you can while having fun! For those who are allergic to fun: you can still be laser-focused and want to do well while having fun at the same time. You’re on a golf course, for goodness sake. It’s a game. It’s supposed to be enjoyable. Fight for the joy!

Rick - I think we can all relate to this. We want to play our best golf but ‘real’ life (work) gets in the way and there’s not enough time to practise and play regularly. It’s an incredibly frustrating feeling when you don’t play as well as you know you can, but the good thing is you kept your chin up and ground it out even when it wasn’t going your way. Stay in that positive headspace and those putts and scores will start dropping!

32:07 So I have to ask. I’m a new golfer. I’m 44 and hit a golf ball for the 1st time ever summer of 2022. My handicap is solidly around 15-17 - Why do many people that have been playing for years still try to fly the ball to the hole when chipping around the green? I would’ve pulled a 52 degree or a PW or 9i from that lie and distance. Just clear the rough and get the ball down and rolling as quickly as possible. It’s seems to me when you try and plop it in there, the margin for error is much higher. You need to land it perfectly. Just putt it with a lofted club and use the slopes to get it there. Seems like a much lower margin for error.

Interesting comparing Bryson vs Rick shot by shot. Bryson is "analyse, analyse, analyse, execute, great/dang" - repeat. Rick is "execute, should/could have, oh dear, make/miss, heroic recovery" - all over the place. Rick is a 6hcp (?) so +6 is an "average" score for him. First 3 holes were a disaster - not sure what happened with that tiny putt on the 3rd. Rick seems to think he should par/birdie every hole....but he's not scratch. Play a bad shot, recover as best you can. Get rid of that awful claw grip and practice your long putting.

I'm still a beginner at golf. Rick's channel was the first one I started watching because I really appreciated hearing how he planned his shots based on the situation. But as I watched more, I noticed that he is often beating himself up mentally. He says he's been working on it, but there are still many times he goes into his negative head space. Yes, he recently tries to make a joke of it or does his best to be positive, but often times it is very demoralizing with the way he talks. When he starts the course well, he is usually upbeat for the rest of the course and it is nice to watch. But if he starts off less than his ideal, he becomes negative and he has a hard time shaking it off especially since he brings it up often.

Been a month since I have golfed now, my golfers elbow is back worse than ever, not getting better through either rest, and the theraband flex bar seems to make it hurt more not less! MRI is normal says the doc, months and months of occupational therapy didn't help last time so he finally did an injection of cortisone that made it a lot better but not perfect, that injection was about 7 months ago now. Should I find s different doctor and see if he has any way to actually fix me or go back to the same doc and let him inject me again?

Honestly, I think the goal should be to make 18 pars during the qualifier, and if birdies happen, they do. Putting so much pressure on yourself at the first tee shot is mentally very challenging, especially if you make a bogey on hole one for example. Good luck Rick, you got this qualifier in the bag!

Why are you bothering trying to qualify for the open? You need to beat par not 75!

play your draw on 1, hit 3 wood on 2, don't miss 18 in putt on 3 and you have a tidy +2 round. Good playing sir, best of luck going forward!

Rick needs to play 18 holes with Dan grieve... its all good and well practising 100 shots on the same fringe but every hole is different! If rick could add short game to his bag, he could easily beat the pros in the 10 shot challenge

Two things that were obvious first no consistent putting routine and secondly, more importantly, not playing 1 stroke at a time. Looking forward to next holes and stating needs for birdies to make up for bogies. The only thing one can control is the present, the past is behind you and you can control the future. Golf if played more between the ears than on the grass.

Im crap at golf and it is a hard game but when i watch Ricks videos and Peter Finches videos the main difference i see is that Peter has a clear picture in his head of every shot he is about to play.he looks at the lie, takes account of wind, hazrds etc and plays a shot that suits. Rick seems to just walk up, look at the distance and takes a club out and hits his ball, and its always a bloody draw shape.... which results in him asking the ball to stop drawing!!! As for chipping, he completely forgets what the coaches like Dan Grieve tell him and just hits the ball.

RS, what did Robbo say to you? Walk up to the green/pin on those long puts... Great to see you keep your composure though. Or did you edit the swearing out lol😂 You'd of been better off walking back to the 9th and starting again, that would of put you in a better mind set. Loving the Vlogs mate. 🍻🇦🇺

Rick, my feeling is you play better, more focused, reading greens more carefully when playing with a flightpartner - sometimes putts are a bit hurried ... simply take more time ...

Rick you should work on a fade, you start on line a majority of the time but over draw the ball. A fade will help you hit more greens, in my opinion
