I love this scene, and I love how they did some flashbacks of when John was born. Ricky and Amy are meant to be together. I mean, if you remember from season 1, before Ricky found out that Amy was pregnant.... he was interested in her right from the start, it just took 2 1/2 seasons for him to realize it.

I wish shailene and the other actors would come back one last time and show the ending correctly. The created Brenda Hampton said that Ricky and Amy do end up getting married and Ricky and John go to NYC and live there and so does George. Grace moves to NYC and studies at NYU and jack and Madison got married. Omar and Adrian have two kids and got married. I just wish they can all just do one last episode and show where they are instead of reading about it.

@@seniorqueen08 Amy didn't love Ben and neither did he. Both of them were 15-year-olds in way over their heads, only in love with the idea of each other. Amy wanted a boyfriend so badly and when she got pregnant she expected Ricky to swoop in not Ben (Ashley confirmed this). But Ben, in love with the idea of love, stepped in like some geeky "knight in shining armor" to rescue Amy (Leo said this was one of his worst qualities because he does the same thing). He spoiled her no different than her parents did. And eventually that infatuation turned into an unhealthy obsession which was rearing on borderline psychotic. I believe Amy didn't want to let Ben go because he was the easy and safer choice. With him she wouldn't be as hurt the way she would if Ricky broke her heart. And we saw glimpses of this. Her feelings for Ricky went deeper, their arguments and disagreements are proof of that. In fact I don't think she ever argued passionately with Ben. Notice how she instigated most of her fights with Ricky and pushed his buttons while they were together. She was testing him since she always compared their situation to her parents. Amy was afraid she'd end up in a broken marriage no different than George and Anne. She was almost expecting Ricky to just give up and walk away but he never did and I think that scared her. Neither Amy nor Ricky had ever truly been in love until they came into each other's lives. It wasn't just John that brought them together (he gave them excuse sure). They connected the first day they met. Both of them admitted this. And I actually think it was Ricky who realized he was in love with Amy first the day he held their son after he was born. It was so obvious by his actions in season 2. Such as when Amy told Ricky she hated him to his face and it devastated him so much he ran to Adrian hoping she could numb his pain. Ricky basically admitted to Ben in season 4 that when he realized his love for Amy he ran until he couldn't. And he staked his claim to Ben declaring he was in love with her and going to be her's forever. I also think season 2 is where Amy slowly started falling in love with Ricky while they were becoming friends. Because when he took off after being hurt by Adrian and Ben, it devastated Amy. And it hurt her even more when he returned and demanded joint custody of John. Just watch that scene where she cries after he tells her he wants John for the weekends. The desire and yearning is so thick you can cut it with a knife. Ricky is the one person besides her family that brings out all her emotions; the good, the bad and the ugly. Ben does not do that nor has he ever respected her. Ricky's love for Amy was unconditional and honest, she was very flawed and selfish most times. But as he once said to Adrian, Amy is the most important person to him next to their son. And Amy believed in Ricky enough to change for the better (she saw the good in him when others didn't). He stopped having indiscriminate sex (which was an addiction that made him miserable) because he was in love with her. He wanted her to be the person that changed him and she was. They ended up trusting each other completely despite fits of jealousy. He would not run to be with her in New York and she would not run home every time they argued if their love wasn't real. Both of them were happiest together but because they were so young the idea of being with Ricky forever terrified Amy. She never had those fears or doubts about Ben. If she did I didn't see it. Might've felt insecure around him (like in his desperation to lose his virginity no matter what). But never scared he'd leave her. At least not for long. While to me the series finale was just bad writing since nobody in season 5 really paid attention to Amy and Ricky's journey. The way she says "you're not in love with me" in that scene felt more like she was projecting those feelings rather than accusing him. That man has been in love with her for a very long time. He says it with his eyes and whenever he says her name or "I love you". It's been subtly and obviously shown throughout the course of the show. But on Amy's end yes there were times she did use their relationship like a competition when it came to Adrian. And it was portrayed like that because she is an immature teenager. Ben represents childishness (he's like a drug to Amy as Adrian was to Ricky) because hes a spoiled rich brat who is handed everything, gotten his way and just expects his parents to dote on him and clean up his messes whenever he screws up. His fractured/adulterous relationship with Adrian was meant to contrast Ricky and Amy. He was shown that while he did step up after getting her pregnant he wasn't ever committed to that life. He didn't have Ricky's sense of accountability, emotional growth or parental instinct to take care of a child. And Ben walked away the second he got an out instead of working things through with Adrian (who I believe truly fell in love with him). Ricky on the other hand (who lived a very traumatic existence) matures as the series goes on and he represents responsibility, accountability and being an adult. He doesn't quit when things are tough which is why he doesn't quit on Amy and the life they build together with John. Amy had a lot more growing up to do before committing herself to Ricky. And I think that's where Brenda went wrong. She should've focused season 5 on Amy's maturity like finally letting go of Ben and strengthening her relationship with Ricky. Unfortunately the showrunner/creator expected a season 6 and that's why we're forever left with that sh*tty series finale cliffhanger. Am I glad to find out Ricky did chase after her to New York instead of letting her walk away? Yes. But we'll never get to see it. And truthfully I don't like the idea of Ricky chasing after Amy when that's what he's done most of the show. It should've been her realizing she was stupid and running back to him begging his forgiveness. I mean she left the man she loves and their son. It made her look bad in the end.

After watching all of this, the end of season 5 is simply disappointing and not required. They could've gotten married and been happy but they split after five seasons of back and forth back and forth. Like seriously, everyone was making out with everybody and they finally chose who they want and now they're happy and then you go and ruin it all in one episode. It didn't make sense at all.

The most Non-Sense, Lame ending EVER Up to this date I still had hope they would make another season and reunite them after college! Oh my God, this is just terrible writing and I'm going to tell you guys why first of they both was attracted to each other at band camp the place where they first meet Those two were bounded together by their son John Everyone knew that they loved each other, otherwise Adrian, Ben and everyone else wouldn't have been worried every time they spend time together. Ricky defended Amy and protected her. He respected her as the mother of his child and like he told Ashely in season 3 she is the 2nd most important person in his life and he started falling for her in season 2 episode 18. In season 2 he kissed her and flirted with her occasionally. He kissed her because he wanted to kiss her and he realized that it wasn't just a kiss and it wasn't to help her either. and I also think there were hitting feelings between those two. Amy also wanted to kiss Ricky and admitted it season 3 was the turning point for both of them While next door, Ricky and Adrian kiss but both instantly realize that the 'heat' between the two has fizzled out, confirming Ricky's own belief that he and Adrian could never get back together as they both have moved on. Could this be down to his feelings for Amy growing so much that it has usurped his feelings for the only girl he has ever contemplated marrying one day, season 3 episode 10 I think had something really special. and they haven't felt this way about other people they've been with in season 4 episode 2 he said this line before I'm in love with Amy and I'm going to be with her for the rest of my life and only with her the way he's always looked at her she has never looked at anyone before another reason season 4 episode 8 I thought I might have feelings for someone and it scared me and the first time he said I love you to her he said it with his eyes too Ricky once told Adrian that he didn’t want Amy to understand him or to get him, that he wanted Amy to change him. even his foster mother knew how happy he was I truly believe, along with many others, that Ricky truly wanted that to happen. In the end, Amy did change Ricky, but it wasn’t all her doing though; it was also their son, John. I believe that Amy and Ricky, along with their son, should have had the happy ending they deserved after all they’ve been through.
