Goosebumps watching that final race. You can race hard without resorting the dirty tactics. You could tell they were going at it 100 percent

There was a moment where Stewart could’ve made the pass on Carmichael on one turn but he hit the brakes and let Ricky go. That just shows the respect they have for each other even tho they were rivals at the time

I really miss the racing between these two racers also but I am really glad that they never tried to make a comeback from retirement. I don't remember if anyone in motorized sports has ever tried to make a comeback and win the title. At least for RC the world's greatest, he was able to retire on his own terms.

0:44 I replayed this pass by Carmichael a dozen times in a row. Stewart’s scrubs at 3:11 and 3:22. Straight attack mode. So sick! 4:22 Stewart blasting the whoops past Carmichael, feet on the pegs in the next turn...beauty.

Why do you assume that, because he's black or something? Cause he didn't lack the skill and wins needed, I dont know what you're implying with that otherwise? He's in the AMA Hall Of Fame... you have to be retired for a certain amount of time to be inducted, he was inducted the very same year he qualified for it. The fact he is black was a major reason why he was inducted, for moving the sport forward not just in speed and technique, but bringing in a whole new fan base and being a pioneer as the first black professional motocross and supercross racer, aswell as the first black champion at every stage of his career.. Even his brother got a 250 regional title, making them the first brothers to both earn a professional supercross title... There's been a lot of good brothers, one set even finished on the podium together on the same night, but not championships... doubt we'll ever see it done again.

@Ajax77 it was the fact the they said he cheated in taking illegal substances and yes because he was BLACK. Even James himself said he delt with racism growing up in the sport. I only said it might not happen also based off what supercross analyst were saying. Of course he was wayyy skilled enough and MY FAVORITE RIDER. My not be the goat to some but definitely the fastest to ever do it. If it wasn't for Stewart coming back to the sport and making a better name for himself, im not so sure they would have put him in the HOF. But he definitely overly deserves it!

Stewart made so much time in the whoop section. Always was an animal when it came to those. Still wish he would have let off just a bit on that final lap to let Carmichael leave on a win. Still, outstanding race!

Carmichael would not have wanted that. Ricky would rather end being beat straight up by the fastest man. The GOAT and the fastest in one race, amazing.

I saw Carmichael at Minneapolis Supercross in the early 2000s. where the other riders would land on the back of the last woop he would take it all the way to the corner over another rider and land at full throttle. With a blast of mud and smoke he was gone.

@@TheShepdawg9 You should watch their podcast episode together it’s great. According to them, in SX RC said he had to ride outside of his comfort zone to stay close with Stew and that he only ever beat him if Stew crashed. On the opposite, Stew said he couldn’t beat RC in outdoors without riding out of control and he’d usually crash trying.
