When you're in a heterosexual marriage, the two become one. They're a unit, in a marriage covenant. Lucy was doing behind his back that which she told him she would not do. She was dishonest with him.

His concern is that it's a lot of money and has no idea where it came from. During that time a lot of women did not work and so wouldn't have had an income of their own. Lucy was a housewife so for her to have that kind of cash is surprising. Plus, as we see throughout the show, she's always getting into trouble with her shenanigans and is very bad at handling. one of the episodes was that instead of using the money Ricky gave her to pay the bills she was spending it on clothes and other items they didn't need. That's the whole premise of most of the show and the comedy behind it
