He all but announced his retirement recently (August of 2023). Gonna miss watching him play. Loved his style of play....one of the last to make the assist exciting. I've always loved those types (Magic, Nash, Kidd,). Love ya, Ricky, thanks for giving me so much to ooh and awe about these last 15 years...ever since I saw you show out in the 2008 Olympics.

If he had an outside shot he'd be in the top 5 or 10 point guards in the NBA. Hes already arguably the best passer in the NBA, one of the best defenders, great knowledge of the game, never makes a bad decision. His jumpshot is easily fixable too, the only thing wrong with it is that he doesn't have enough arc on it. Get more arc where he can shoot 40-50% FG and 30-40% pt line he'd be one of the best in the league.

You know, the problem with Rubio is not really the jumpshot. Sure, he's not a good shooter, but think of a guy like Rondo. They're very similar: pass first point guards with incredible creativity and very good defenders. Also neither has a reliable jumpshot. But what it's Rondo better at? He can actually finish on the restricted area and he can create his own drives off the drible. Ricky is even a worse finisher than a shooter. In fact he just had career years in all shooting percentages (fg, ft and 3s). He will never be a good shooter and he will be similar in that to Rondo as well, but he could be way better at finishing if he bulked up just a little more.

He's the flashiest passer in the NBA, not necessarily always the best. He throws away his share of balls too. His lack of lateral quickness defensively is often exposed by quicker guards too. His jumpshot doesn't just have bad arc, it's generally just not very consistently accurate. It's actually almost at an embarrassing level for an NBA player much less a point guard who should be one of your team's better shooters. He reminds me most of Jason Williams, another hyped player who filled up the highlight reels but night in night out you didn't really know what you were going to get with him as gets hurt easily and he disappears as often as he shines.

Rubio does commit turnovers like any other guard with the ball in their hands a lot, but he's one of the best decision makers in the NBA right now, great at taking care of the ball. Has a fantastic Assist/Turnover ratio. He actually has pretty good lateral quickness for his size, has always been great at shifting his feet to draw charges and fouls from illegal screens, so I'm not sure what you're going on about there. I mean in a vacuum, one-on-one, guards (especially PGs) in the league often get exposed at some point or another during games due to the elite level of athleticism in the NBA these days at those positions. That's why there's help defense/doubling up, rim protectors, defensive schemes for the entire team, etc. etc. Now, does he need to keep improving his jumpshot? Of course. His shooting %s do seem to be heading steadily in the right direction which is encouraging.

Ok friends, he now has gotten it! Better shooter, more accuracy. Awesome! He just needed some training and trust. He's gotten more mature and serious. He's more focused on the game. I think everything which happened him last two years made him get mature. The death of his mother, his sale to Utah jazz etc... Minnesota must be really angry with that sale. They sold just before he exploded as a player. Awesome Ricky this season!

Cavs fans, Rubio is going to be an amazing player for us. Fills a huge void as the backup point guard. Perfect type of player to help this very young team develop. Excellent defender that is perfect to run with, and we will really start to see the athleticism that this team has. This will be a fun year. Might not be playoffs, but enjoy the growth of this young team as they build to be a fun team that starts to win over the next 2-3 years. Go Cavs!

These are Rubio's flashy highlights, but his true gift is reading the floor. He shift the defense with his eyes and hits the right teammate for an easy 2. No flash required. He became a good shooter, but his release is just too slow to truly be a high volume weapon. Still one of the highest IQ players ever, and a joy to watch.

Uncanny court vision that brings up memories of Magic. If the shot is like mine, it's really something that I have not heard about in terms of overwhelming fools. If it isn't, I don't think you can pass that much and have that much fun unless he's more of an assist freak than he's hyped as. I just can't stop shooting.

Nah, Kuroko only really has his pass (the shot and drive are completely reliant on other players if my memory is correct.) Rubio has drives and handles and defense as well. We’ve seen Kuroko is an incompetent defense
