So I'm only 19 and have consistently been shaving my head completely bald for roughly half a year or longer. I started noticing that my hair was receding when I was like 17 and that took a pretty big toll on me considering I had medium length hair and put a lot of effort into trying to style it, which overtime just led to a weird com over type thing as my hair loss progressed over the last couple of years. I turn 20 next month and I'm really glad I decided to start shaving my head completely because I definitely didn't want to be one of those guys that clings onto the hair on the sides of their head or use a hairpiece. I'm way more confident now than I ever was. Thank you for this video as I believe it will help a lot of guys out when going through similar things.

I'm genetically bald (M shape) inherited from my father. Front hairline was tall since primary, but it just gets super obvious now I'm in my 27. It bothers me because my long hair just doesn't work well with wind and I find myself always trying to perming my hair curly to create volume and wearing a cap to hide the front baldness. Can't even enjoy the wind when I go cycling. I have now decided to go buzz cut first. And eventually find my way towards embracing full bald shave. Thanks for the words toward the end of the video, they were really helpful 💪

One thing I discovered recently to shave just after shower when my scalp is still moisturized...use a 5-head head shaver and then follow up with the good ol 5 or 6 blade shave for a quick smoothening of my dome.
@NorsePJ3 жыл бұрын
Your advice to people on hair loss is such a positive thing that I think even full haired people might go the way of baldness. Personally, I both shave and buzz cut depending on mood. My main issue is that I have bumps and cherry angiomas to deal with which leads to cuts here and there. And it doesn't matter whether I use a double bladed disposable shaver like BIC or an old fashioned double edged safety razor. And of course, once you have a few nicks then it's easy to recut those same spots. But most of the time it's all right.

I hope you see this comment. Thank you very much for this video. I'm 24 and I just shaved my head today. I'm still very insecure about it but this video helped a lot. I'm not going to look through your channel and girly find more head shaving videos. If you see this, how can I get rid of the"shadow" from the rest of my hair after I've shaved? I want a cleaner look but don't know how.
@RickyBenangVlogs4 жыл бұрын
Hey man! Thanks so much for taking the time to tune in to the video and also, congrats on taking the step to shave your head! I was also 24 the first time I did so. I hope you find the rest of my channel helpful too if you do get a chance to look at it :) I would say for having the cleanest shave possible, it's best to shave against the grain. Naturally the 'shadow' may return a day or two after shaving but that's completely normal. If you haven't got the most sensitive skin then you may be able to get away with daily shaving and never having to deal with the shadow. Hope that helps :)

Maybe it's because I was used to get getting buzzcuts my entire life, but making the jump to full-on bald actually wasn't that scary for me, thankfully. What I definitely agree with you on, and what I want other guys who aren't having as easy a time as I did to know, is that you'll find out....you actually don't look half bad with it all off or, even better, you look *better* than you did with your hair. Even though mine would never grow very long, I always felt kinda dorky with it at a certain length, especially before I grew my beard (which, unfortunately, being almost 23, has yet to attain your level of gloriousness). But now? Damn, shave my head down and with the facial hair I've got....even *I* have to admit I look good, and I have self-esteem problems besides. Appreciate the vid, broski, and especially that you just gave advice and not a documentary with a laundry list of expensive "must-have" products.

My situation is a bit different. I am balding, have been for a number of years but primarily I want to shave my head because of my dry scalp and my case of dermatitis that I can't shake no matter what shampoo I've tried. I normally shave my head with my trimmer and a 00000 blade which is as close to the skin as possible, only one level above completely bald. I have only shaved my head once with a razor but personally I think shaving makes the most sense in the shower which minimizes cuts, razor bumps, keeping your face or scalp warm makes shaving much easier.

I've shaved my head for the past 20 years and now I can't imagine having hair. Hell... I can't even stand to wear a hat. If anything is covering my head, it feels too hot or squeezed. My only regret about shaving my head was that I didn't do it sooner.

I am 20, already went bald with these foil shavers, now thinking about full switch to razors. Good thing (and a bad thing at once xd) is that I am very tall and quite muscular in general, suits me well (but I was on a brink of full blown anxiety when I've noticed that crown going bald), but at the same time I am the only one bald at my lectures (barely anyone is bald in the UK while in their 20s, in my home country its more common) and other students ask me odd questions or avoid me in general because of some stupid stereotypes, while others get attracted to me, which is kinda funny and sad at once. But, at least I feel way better after switching to that egg look.
@death-by-ego2 жыл бұрын
Im a fan of using high quality hair conditioner. Cheaper stuff is too watery. Second... use a safety razor. Feel free to get used to using it on your face, but eventually use it on your head. Double edge razors are just better than cartridges for many reasons. Multi blade cartridges cause a bunch of issues for people. Razor burn, irritation, ingrown hairs. Every stroke you do has 3 or more blades running across your skin. Not only that but hairs are being cut muliple times in quick succession while stretched. This can cause hairs to be cut below the skin causing ingrown hairs. "Tugging" is mostly a cartridge thing. On a DE razor with a good handle and a good blade, this is not a thing. And deprogram yourself from cartridge style shaving. You dont need to use pressure when using a de razor. The weight of the razor does the work for you. Go spend 40 to 60 on a reputable DE Razor. And buy a couple of different blades to see what suits you. Some people like a more aggressive blade, some like less aggressive. Outside of all that, you will save money vs cartridge razors. Its more of a upfront cost but you will make up for it with the money you save over the year. Plus, if you take good care of the razor, it can last a lifetime. My father used the same one for 30 years. And being that blades are so inexpensive, you can literally use a new one every week or few days if you choose. Good luck fellow shavers

So, just hit 50 awhile back and slowly accepting the comb-over thing is getting increasingly untenable....I do like to wear what hair I have "High and Tight" with a skin fade on the sides and it does (briefly) distract from how little remains up top, but this is just a stop-gap. The comb-over I have isn't completely pathetic--yet, but checking out videos like this on how to take that next step when I decide it's time. Will probably keep my Van Dyke beard/stache to balance out the bald top when that time does come.

I shaved my 3 inch long hair with an open come safety razor and never had a problem, it was quick too. I guess starting with a trim would speed up the process, but in times of being away from home, even a knife does the trick :D.

I actually have a full head of hair but starting going bald because I thought it would save money by not paying a barber $30 per week and would be less maintenance... Fast forward... Keeping a bald head is a lot of maintenance. Far more maintenance than just having hair! I grew my hair back out and giving my barber business again 😭
