Butterbeam lost stamina just by walking around the ring. By the 5th round he looked liked he lost 120pounds. But I think at the end of the 6th round his corner gave him some buttermilk chicken & a cookie dough thick shake cause he recovered really well and came out firing in the 7th round. Jokes aside It was a good fight though, well done 👍 that’s definitely not easy to do. I’m pretty sure everyone can appreciate and knows how hard it is to get a win against a good fighter let alone the greatest, while being butterbeam.

I've done this a handful of times, it usually takes ~ 45 minutes. It was my favorite challenge! The only punches I throw are occasional jabs to the head to keep distance or stop Ali's movement, but the main strategy is body crosses. If you trade shots it's 2-3 of his punches for every 1 of yours, and every other one of Ali's punches is a counter. You have to stay to the outside and let him walk into that body cross. Once you get a rhythm you can do power body crosses like that, but only a few power shots every round. If you're accurate his body will be weak by the late rounds and tired from swinging and missing. You can try this strategy with a lunging lead cross to his head, but you have to get lucky with power shots landing, and Ali will have much more stamina in the late rounds. To make the headhunting work you have to mix in some 1-2's, maybe put some power on the end occasionally, and get out of there quick. IMHO it's much easier to stick to the body. You don't miss as much, and blocked shots lose less stamina than your jabs and crosses to the head that miss by a mile. Just start on the body early, resist the urge to go for the ko in the middle rounds when you see he's slowing down and weak, don't get greedy. Don't worry, you'll still probably get to hook his face a few times as he falls over for a nice satisfying ko.

Great video, thoroughly enjoyed it! Ali did not show any signs of fatique even in the 12th round he just kept firing. Having played a lot of EA sports games I think that's very typical of them to make the harder difficulty ignore such things (for the AI) and let them just power through. Well done!
@giuseppe3972 жыл бұрын
It's worth altering the sliders in game settings. You can alter power,stamina speed etc to make the fight more or less realistic. When the power is full both boxers hit really hard and a KO is more likely which can make the fight better. I find it depends on the fighter. I feel the default settings make the fights last too long even when you hit the opponent hard. You notice it more in training when sparring. Even with perfect timing and a hay maker,they never go down. Adjust the power slider and stamina and it's so much better. I'm assuming you know this but just incase you don't,I thought I'd let you know.
@TrevorHamberger2 жыл бұрын

Wow. I honestly didn't see the big deal and it took you three times until I started watching. I'd figure all you had to do was pin Ali in the corner, do some body shots, then knock him out. Then I suddenly remembered that no matter how realistic a game is, the difficulty settings will always bend or even break those rules. Much respect for you even attempting this for a third time.👍
@Rennyyl2 жыл бұрын
That strat would’ve worked in the first round or two, but once Butterbeans stamina drops his speed drops IMMENSELY, he’s only a 74 overall and would never have the speed to trap Ali on the corner in the middle or later rounds He even said he noticed Butterbeans head movement slowed down a lot only in the second, imagine the leg speed

This was such a fun game! I was nowhere near as good as this or anything but it was a lot of fun. I still put Ready 2 Rumble on Dreamcast as my favorite boxing game. But that’s probably mostly nostalgic feelings that make me pick that as the best. If anyone here remembers the Sega Master System, the one that came out before the Genesis, it had Rocky and I tore that game up as a kid. You only fought Apollo, Clubber Lang, and Ivan Drago. I loved that game to. LOL. Now that’s an old school game.

He is more celebrity than good fighter. He is WAY overrated. There is so much more than punching power in boxing. That is all Butterbean has. 74 is pretty much right i. His rating. Ali would have had him beat in 3 rounds if they both fought in real life in their prime.

I think going to the body against a fighter like Ali, early in the fight, helps drain his stamina more, and keeps him from being so mobile, when running in fear later in the fight.
@drinfernodds2 жыл бұрын
Absolutely, I would attack to the body so much, especially against fighters with great head movement or with a big height advantage. Would pay off dividends
@christopherparsons32242 жыл бұрын
@@drinfernodds , I also find if you head hunt against fighters like Ali, they will beat you on points easily, since they will stick and move. Their volume will exceed yours and Ali had a really good chin and good defense to avoid damage to the head. Roy Jones, is another fighter where head hunting didn't work either.

When I used to play Fight Night Round 2 it was a great boxing Sim with an arcade feel. What I hated though, is that it had a power punch that you could throw at any time. Even if a fighter was completely out of stamina and the punch was slow and weak... it would stun you if it wasn't completely blocked. This allowed really bad players to always stay in the game even when realistically they should have no chance. Pretty sure EA did this on purpose because they wanted to keep casual players from quitting the game. I loved the controls and how fun the game could be if your opponent didn't try to cheese the game though.

Just used Butterbean to beat Ali by KO in the 5th round using the hardest setting. My strategy was to close distance, work the body, and use a substantial amount of power punches. He knocked Butterbean out in the 1st but by the 4th round Ali had tired himself out and I got Butterbeans first KO. He was still hurt going into the 5th and I took advantage with left hooks to the head. When he went down again he couldn’t beat the count. Thank you RJ Sports for the inspiration to take on serious challenges! I think I’ll go skydiving now.

Congratulations! Yes, the third time was the charm as Butterbean fought the butter fight, slipping away when he needed to and cutting into Muhammad Ali like a hot knife through butter! This seems to be a counter based type of boxing game, where the player can score knockdowns with perfectly timed counters, which is realistic. I tend to play the old school boxing games such as Greatest Heavyweights for the Sega Genesis, but unfortunately in that game all of the fighter's energy must be drained before being able to score a knockdown and the energy bar constantly refills. It's all about putting together combinations which builds up the power on the final blow of the combination. Muhammad Ali is really fast and relentless in that game also, so feel free to check it out, if you haven't already :).

It would be dangerous for a shorter fighter like butter bean to go for body shots on a 25 year old Muhammad Ali 😂 especially when his reach is so long he could step back and counter every time Ali would destroy that dude 😂
@asterphoenix30742 жыл бұрын
@@trunew54 Well really in this game stamina is the most important factor to win this fight all he has to do is throw 15 head shot's till the 5th round let ali waste energy on his guard than knock him out in the 5th 6th. I got 300 wins 110 losses with Holyfield online most my losses were from stat hackers Xbox full of them.
@freighttrain71432 жыл бұрын
Yep, anytime you need to gain a stamina advantage, every catch or slip should be a BODY counter. Put all your shots in the bank, down there. Otherwise you are screwed because, the AI cheats 10x over realistic when it comes to somehow always having right about YOUR stamina level no matter how bad or how often they miss.

First congrats on the win brother. I just did the exact same fight you did I copied your settings and went against Ali with Butterbean. However the only difference is I KOed Ali in the 6th. My only critique with your fight is again your stamina management became horrendous in the later rounds. And the reason for that is from going offensive at the improper times and allowing Ali to block your punches. Butterbean isn’t fast and his offensive game is quite easy to defend against, especially if you’re the AI. When I put Ali to the floor his stamina was 40%. My stamina was 95%. I had all the power in my punches to put him down. On the cards Ali won the first 4. I got only the last 2, but as I keep saying I don’t allow the cards to determine my win. I make sure I go in there every time with a single purpose and that’s to make sure my opponent is sleeping at the end. Like you I did get damaged, but that didn’t stop me from constantly hounding Ali to make sure he’d gas out. By the time the 5th had come around every power punch I threw bled straight through his blocks. He went down twice. He didn’t get up the 2nd time. Anyway as I always say stamina management is the absolute key to winning in this game. Without it you end up throwing pillows. And honestly who wants to see you throwing pillows. As always great fight and commentary Zach vs. Slater

Love the vids, the hardest thing about this particular fight and especially on the highest difficulty is butterbean won’t outscore Ali it’s impossible so the only way you can win is by knockout so not only is it a super difficult match but you give up one method of winning because of butter beans single shot style.
