You see Kangals and Mountain Dogs doing this work. They have the size and strength but they don't have the speed, drive and hitting power of the Dutch Shepherd. This dog is just amazing!

I am in awe of these dogs. I have always been a Doberman guy and will always be. The thing for me is that I am too old now to keep up with the Dutchie. If I were younger and had the energy this would be my next dog. I can't believe I never really heard a lot about them before. I like the Malinois but not to own. This dog is similar but just a bit different. They are beautiful and intelligent. I have had a lot of fun in Schutzhund with my Dobermans but now I mostly watch you younger guys run around, lol. @@shockadellick you will never go wrong with well bred and stable working line. KNPV dogs ate bred just to work and no priority is given to looks. They can have mix of pitbull great Dane or any other dog in order to get the desired traits. Just like mals knpv can be little nervy(plenty of gsd with this too). Personally I prefer gsd . And good dog is difficult to find

nice looking dog ,, like that brindle to ,, been looking at the malinois,, but theres something i dont like,, but i dont know what it is !! the dutch shepherd looks a little bit bigger and a bit more aggresive,, i would be more wary than the malinois,, but thats just my opinion

Rico is a great dog but I think he's a Dutch / Pit mix.... My Dutch has a narrower snout and is taller and leaner and I know for a fact mine is 100% dutch.

And you're telling me that they don't have any pitbull put into them. Buddy I have had pitbulls for twenty plus years and I have to say that it's in there. They act just like game dogs do except for they do exactly what a pitbull does to another dog, they do it to a human. If they say that they are the cousins to Malinios that's because I believe that are Malinios with a splash of pitbull.

A Pit Bull cross was not used to enhanse this Dutch Shepherd's working ability. Dutchies have had the "look" and the "power" that Rico exhibits in their manwork for over 100 years. When they are crossed (and they are sometimes crossed strategically in Holland for KNPV), they are mostly crossed with a Dutch KNPV Malinois. I breed European Malinois, Dutch Shepherds and Dobermanns for development as Police K-9s and Military Working dogs. I do have a young male Dutch Shepherd x Black Malinois cross in my kennel. His Black Malinois sire took 6th. in the Dutch KNPV Championship recently and he was then bred with a KNPV Dutch Shepherd female. The "goal" is to breed the absolute best working dog, while retaining his structural integrity . . . the arbitrary restraints of a Kennel Club's Breed Standard are not necessarily adhered too.

I have a female Dutchee and I have studied them and all that I have witnessed are lean mot a muscular dog. Mines is black and gold brindle color but lean. I have taught her to do things in 1 day. Very good dog .I like Rico but its a question about him

Pavel Drevnak you'd be surprised if you even walked a decent sized dog. It will drag you and you would feel heir strength. Plus they have sharp teeth combined with strong jaws. Having that clamp down on you tearing through your skin is gonna hurt. Dogs can't just be pushed or kicked away if the are driven to attack. Same way there's a goat video that was knocking down people. A man git mad and kicked it several times, but the goat is tougher than you think. Strikes might not be the best method. Wrestling a goat is easier. Dogs are strong too.

Haha I'm 110kg and I guarantee you I would not fuck with these dogs I saw a friend he is a machine UFC fighter and big big heavy weight like 150kg. I saw his entire head shatter split fair in half the most gruesome wound from just 1 bite!! I'm talking flesh and bone hanging off his skull it looked like he got hit with an axe.. this was just from 1 bite.. hate to think if he hit a bleeder.. sprung a leak.. your RIP in minutes.. especially when their trained on the arm.. game over no matter who you are.

@ Pavel Drevnak. Look at the helper with the bite sleeve at 5:11. Now imagine there is no bite sleeve. If the dog is tearing on your arm I promise you, you won't be moving away from the direction the dog is pulling towards. All you will want to do is to move in the direction of the dog in order to reduce the pain and save what is left of your arm while crying for your mother.. No matter how big you are.
