hey and thanks for the video.. i do have a RICOH MP 501 but following the video i did not manage to enable the "SCAN TO FOLDER".. what maybe is wrong with my case is that at minute 3:22 you mentioned " USING THE COMPUTER NAME REQUIRES DNS TO BE CONFIGURED"..also from my desktop (see minute 0:46) the PRIMARY DNS SUFFIX is NULL & from RICOH control panel (see minute 2:53) DOMAIN NAME is NULL again.. well i am working with a NEWLY installed windows 10 OS thus no DNS is configured... do you have a more detailed guide??? would highly appreciate if we can solve this out

the credentials you use for the folder access, does it require the domain\cred to be able to access the path?

Never in my life have I had such a hard time with a scanner! All I want is to scan to my PC! I don't want fancy rubbish! If Brother All in ones can do it I don't see why my SP C205SF cant!

create a shared folder on the network, and scan to that folder. Any computers with permissions on that network will be able to access the document

i can ping my laptop from the printer and vice versa. but when i create folder in ricoh, it always say connection failure due to firewall, etc.. we off all firewalls already. what can be the issue?

Does this mean that the printer doesn't have a web admin interface? :D We just replaced a Canon that was like 10 years old, and I was able to manage that through the network. (Okay, I found it meanwhile.)

Seriously; this is complete negligence. You should not give your printer Administrator access to your PC. Especially since Ricoh ships the printers with NO PASSWORD on its admin account!

continually asks me for password. Will not scan. to Ricoh 2022 copier. It was working then stopped a week ago. No matter what password I use, it fails. My Win7 computer prints to the copier. The LAN sees the copier. The copier sees the LAN but will not log into any computer folder. What is wrong?

OK I think I know what issue your are having. Go to Network and Sharing Center make sure that the connection is set as a Home or Domain location depending on your network. Then in the Advanced Sharing Options make sure that File and Printer Sharing is turned on and that Password Protected Sharing is turned off. Also, the folder you wish to scan to must be Shared as shown in this video "with this one step they left out" under the file properties General tab Advanced Options button check the box Ready for Archiving.

It is important to go to "Network and Sharing Center" on your computer (can be reached from Control Panel), go to "Change advanced sharing settings" on the left, scroll to the bottom, click the arrow next to "All Networks" to display the settings, and check whether password protected sharing is turned on or off. It is easier to make the scan to folder work if you turn it off. The above instructions are for Windows 10.
