What tips do you recommend for sublimating on cotton tshirts?
@ricomatv4 жыл бұрын
Because of the way sublimation works, you won’t be able to sublimate onto cotton shirts since the ink won’t stick. The most you can do is 60% polyester/40% cotton and even then it will give you a faded vintage look. For printing on 100% cotton, a DTG printer is preferred or you can do heat transfer printing as described in the video.
@alfredoperez19504 жыл бұрын
You can use Siser Easysubli with Easysubli ink. About $2 per sheet though.
@thepatsyfamily4 жыл бұрын
I've seen heat transfers leave a clearish border around the designs. How can you avoid this with this method? So if your paper is 8x10 but your design is 7 x 9, there's a 1/2" of unused paper and even when you trim the paper, it leaves behind a little bit of the blank paper backing. I'm not sure I'm describing this correctly, but it's a little clear film and makes the garments look cheap.

I've seen this printer print first hand and didn't see this issue.
@johnyepthomi8924 жыл бұрын
also, if you’re looking for people facing similar issues but can’t find many or none when googling then it’s safe to say that it could be an isolated case and probably something you’re doing wrong and need to go back and read the manual again etc etc... not saying you’re doing it wrong or anything just adding my 2 cents for future purpose.
@JCFair4 жыл бұрын

Every regular heat transfer leaves white borders because of the paper. You can buy easy weeding paper or you can use laser printers that hace papers that won’t leave the white border. Look it up it’s all over the internet.

1.print design 2.Transfer to adhesive 3.Transfer to shirt That's 3 steps. The Heat Transfer that I used to do did not require step 2. Print on the page with pigment ink (dye ink doesn't work because it's not waterfast and shifts color during the heating) and then transfer directly to a cotton T-shirt, no other steps required. You can PREpress the shirt if you want, but I often won't even do that.

Excellent video! Very informative. Best on KZbin. What is the cost different b/t ink cartridges? What is the cost per-print between sublimation and heat transfer?
@ricomatv11 ай бұрын
Hi! Thanks so much for watching. While sublimation printing may have higher upfront costs, the per-print cost can be lower for larger volumes. Heat transfer methods offer flexibility but may have varying costs based on the specific technique and materials used. Sublimation Printing: Sublimation Ink: Sublimation ink costs can vary based on brand and quality. It is generally more expensive than standard inkjet ink. Sublimation Paper: Specialized sublimation transfer paper is required for the process, and its cost depends on the brand and quantity. Sublimation Printer: Sublimation printers are often more expensive upfront compared to regular inkjet printers. However, the long-term cost per print might be lower. Heat Transfer Printing: Transfer Paper: Heat transfer paper costs can vary based on quality and quantity. Ink: If you are using an inkjet printer for heat transfer, you would use regular ink, and the cost would depend on the type and brand of ink. Heat Transfer Vinyl (HTV): If you are using a vinyl cutter and heat transfer vinyl, the cost would include the vinyl material.

So no sublimation on black shirts? Thats a bummer considering black would be 90% of the shirts I'd like to make and that seems to offer the best quality. I'm learning a lot from your videos.
