I’ve been a bit behind on youtube lately but it’s great to catch up! All the little details are really great, and it was nice to have the cab view perspective!

Thanks Bin! I'm always adding little details. I got a list of them to do. Just did a couple piles of lumber under blue tarps. One for the Mennonite farm, and one for Gus's garage. Oh and a pile of logs at the Mennonite farm, for lumber or firewood. Still working on my drainage ditch, will paint the CelluClay tomorrow. Thanks for watching!

I really enjoyed watching both parts! While watching this I thought about, has anyone ever modeled an under layout Salt Mine? I’ve seen under layout Coal Mines before. I could see you making that with real salt!😊

Cool idea! It would work for Cargill in Lansing NY (serviced by Ithaca Railway) because they actually mine the salt underground. In Watkins, very different scenario. The salt layer is under Seneca Lake. So they drill a well, shoot water down in, pump the brine back up, and evaporate the water, leaving the salt. Both Cargill and US Salt have been doing it this way since 1898. Thanks for watching!

Very highly detailed layout. Got a question about the Salt drop off pickup. Where does the loaded hoppers go to get unloaded at their destination?

Hi Ryochi, good question. Here's my take on it: The HW2 (Himrod-Watkins) pulls the salt loads from Watkins Glen back to Himrod yard. Then GH2 (Geneva-Himrod) runs down from Geneva and pulls the loads back to the NS interchange at Geneva. Then NS train H06 pulls the salt loads to the NS yard in Gang Mills (Corning) NY. From there, they go to many different Cargill customers. I am checking with a friend, and will get back to you with any udates. I appreciate your interest in this. Take care - Bill.

hi bill !! excellent stuff, as usual !!! now that i am retired, i have had time to check out most of your videos.... question, bill.... is there a video that shows/explains your track plan ? i am west of you just 30 miles south of buffalo and model the bprr from bflo to just north of pittsburgh and am planning an eastern movement/acquisition of the ns southern tier line... do you ever interface your finger lakes line with the ns, which i believe is just south of you ? your attention to detail is masterful, especially when you weather your salt facility and hoppers that serve it... very corrosive and just awful looking but highly convincing !!! keep the videos rollin', my friend !!!

Hi Dennis and thanks for the compliments! My cars are (almost) all weathered from prototype photos of the FGLK. They have so much personality! As for the track plan, I was new to model railroading at the time, so instead of screwing up the plan, I had Lance Mindheim design it for me. I don't have a video on it, but I will post the plan to the community tab on my page. It's basically just the HW2 (Himrod-Watkins Glen) turn, only 16 miles in real life. My buddy Paul Stamp youtube.com/@TierLineCustoms is MUCH more ambitious than me, and models the NS flyover at Himrod yard, where the NS H06 train runs from Geneva to Gang Mills (Corning.) Take care and good luck on your espansion - Bill.

@@MyFingerLakesRailwayLayout thanks, bill !! will be working on 7-8 2 bay hoppers with g&w markings as well as the ns expansion eastward fully corroded from salt.... all weathered like your fleet, then off to oneida lake next week for some walleye fishing, then the 6 hours at the glen .... all in your neck of the woods !!! blessings to you, bill !!!
