I used to do removals and crematory drop offs all day sometimes. I didn’t mind because I got a chance to get familiar with facilities and other funeral homes that we did business with. Keep up the good work.

I love to see funeral home director happy and singing about her job. I know you really love you're job. I eat those candy as well. We all going to died people dying every single day.. some people are afraid of the dead. When seeing someone laying up in caskets. I don't cry at funeral because crying it's not going to bring them back to life. I be hurting though

I remember too well of making removals. It was my only break in the day (no cell phones then-just radios) just to return to the FH to find there's even more work to do & it's after 5PM-have been at work since 8AM, wouldn't be leaving work until 9PM or after. My social life took a hit because my job consumed all of my time. You're right, your job is not easy. Many see it as an exciting occupation where you get dressed up & meet new people (& dead folks too) which is only a fraction of it. I would always go home looking like I've been in a fight everyday, just to get some sleep, get up, & do it all over again-7 days/week & I wasn't the owner. Keep your head up, you'll get there. It's a hell of a valuable learning experience. It takes time & determination. Overhead is what usually kills most owner's FH's.

I became curious about the funeral industry back in 1999 when my little sister passed away. I would try to get a job just doing pick up but there's no black owned funeral home that I know of here in Nebraska. I wouldn't mind working at a white owned funeral home. But I don't know if I would fit in.

Even though I like your personality Your funeral home doesn't give off enough of a professional vibe. Your more like an "Earl shy" funeral home. Maybe you should be the funeral home owner but get an actual funeral director to run the business. If your outlook doesn't change & if you don't stop shooting yourself in the foot. 'I really didn't want to do this profession" Your not going to eventually have a funeral home business.
