I decided to make this because an English translated version is hard to come by. Also, many people misunderstand the meaning of the piece.
This is ACT III of the second opera in the four-part musical masterpiece, "The Ring of the Nibelung" by legendary composer, Richard Wagner.
The scene involves eight of the story's nine Valkyrie - sisters, essentially demi-goddesses, who gather the bodies of heroic warriors, killed in battle, and bound for Valhalla, the home of the Norse god, Wotan - their father.
As the eight eventually gather together on a high mountain cleft, they discuss where their horses, which bare the fallen warriors, shall graze and rest briefly from the hard night's work.
The horses are restless, as the anger of the dead still brews, causing them to attack each other. Much to the amusement of the Valkyrie.
Their laughter will soon disappear in the next scene as the ninth Valkyrie, Brunhilde, arrives with an unknown woman, and a furious Wotan, the WARFATHER, hot on her heels.
For those curious, the cries "Hojotoho!" and "Heiaha!" basically, are a way to draw the attention of the others - "I am here!", "Attention!"
It is not a "battle cry ".
