A slow Sunday sit on the T. Just taking in the sights and sounds from MGH to Alewife (pit stopping in Porter Square), and back to Davis Square then a very tiny walk through Somerville before my camera died.

I'm guessing, because of experience visiting Boston (1990-2005), the Red Line is faster than a speeding bullet and/or Superman while underground, as evidenced by the train's roar in the tunnels, but crawls worse than a tortoise while outdoors, for example, riding between Columbia Road through Field's Corner as if the trains were on their first training wheels; yet trains run a little faster throughout Quincy, Wollaston, and Braintree without trying to compete with the expressway; the curve into Harvard Square, very 90° exceptional, reminds me of the PATH Trains arriving at World Trade Center Terminal. . .I believe it's TRANSIT KARMA: track fires, power outages, car roster breakdowns (i.e. the new CRRC rapid transit cars), replacement of the Orange Line elevated tracks with underground segments (1970s,1980s), the infamous grand master plan (mid 1940s-present) to expand rapid transit into the suburbs [without competing with the commuter trains] forced to compromise because of NIMBYIST sh'eople's fear/paranoia/terror of relating to other people like they're doing God Almighty a service to Him, Green Line service disruptions because of trackwork and overhead rewirement to avoid dewirement, commuter rail trains constantly being favored over more as if rapid transit was a mortal ridden sin, politricks-n-finances going hand-n-hand like cheating-n-diverse weights, broken promises galore, should I go on? at least the buses can spread out wider than cream cheese/butter on rolls. . .where's all the money going into? aahhh, yes: Real ASS-state and all of the condominium community trimmings with excuses. 🤨

The fastest part to me feels like when your going from Harvard to porter because of how far down you need to go, and there is no slow zones

Indeed! I personally think the loudness of the older cars intensifies/falsifies speed perception in the Porter stretch. The Alewife-bound descent into Kendall is also fun if not bumpy, but only lasts a few seconds..

The red line always went slow over the Longfellow bridge for decades.

One of the worst slow zones on the red line that should be fixed is the slow one from central to Harvard

Whenever I hear the screeching I actually get excited because it means we're about to enter the station (at Harvard) 😮💨
