Traveling on the Taiwan High Speed Rail has certainly made our commute between Taipei and Kaohsiung much more convenient. I experienced it for the first time in 2018 while my wife had made her first commute using THSR a few years earlier during a solo trip to Taiwan. It's affordably priced and a very smooth and comfortable ride making the 217 mile trek in as little as 1:15 while reaching speeds of 186 MPH (300 km/h).

Yeah, the caveat being that part of that population would require taking a bus ride from one of the stations. But the vast majority of Taiwanese people live along the west coast and also the top and bottom part of the island. The eastern coast is dominated by mountains and so much of that is uninhabitable. I can definitely relate to train and bus travel making life easier compared to driving when we are traveling Europe (something America could improve on 😉). I have not yet had the experience of riding a speed train. Looking forward to it one day 😊.
