Thanks for the vlog Freddie and Monika we loved it. Cracking music, great video. Me and Debbie went up mount Teide in 1979 whilst on our honeymoon and visited again 40 years later, we took photos in front of some of the rock formations you passed, the “finger of god” and the steps that you passed on the right were used in the 1956 film The Ten Commandments with Charlton Heston as Moses. The black Obsidian rocks you walked over is made into Jewellery by the locals. Once again loved the Vlog. Thanks.

Hi Freddie, those what you call 'sand' are just volcanic ashes and erosive debrises from the rocks around due to the wind. The green rocks you saw near the road are produced in some kind of volcanic eruptions in which water is involved.

Looking at retiring early. Tenerife is on the list but as an avid motorcyclist I think it is too small for me. Yes, there is this gorgeous road but after about 6 months you've seen all of them. Will stick to the mainland... going to have a look at the Algarve next week.

This is a really valid point- i’m very curious to see how I’ll feel after six months. So far, it couldn’t be more perfect- the best riding I’ve experienced, but I shouldn’t make an absolute judgement until six months time. I love your videos, only discovered them recently it late to the party, but i find them scenic and the information you give is interesting. Mt Teide has more greenery now on the west side than it used to have, before you get to the lava area is a lovely woodland picnic area with a toilet block, we had a picnic there, but through covid they planted 2.000 trees! I love the ride to Teide it is so diverse and never seems too busy on the roads either. Great video :D
@ignacioacosta53453 жыл бұрын
Hello again Freddie and Monica I am very happy that you continue to enjoy so much on my island. Yes, you really liked the route up Teide, from the southern part (which is the driest on the island), when you make the descent or ascent from the northern part (by La Esperanza TF-21 or by La Orotava TF- 24) you will not stop hallucinating. There you will see clearly how you go from a vegetation of medium height to that of high mountains. I recommend that you stop at several viewpoints on the TF-21, but be sure to visit the Chipeque viewpoint (it is the best view of Teide and the best northern part you will ever see; because if you are lucky you will be able to see the authentic sea of clouds ). By the way, know that the Canary Island pine is the only pine in the world that supports fire. Although you see its exterior burned, inside it continues to live, after one or two years, it will regain its leaves and little by little it will be like again. The famous stone on which everyone takes photos on foot of Mount Teide is not "El finger de Dios" (which was in Gran Canaria), it is "El Roque Cinchado". Indeed, when Christopher Columbus passed through Tenerife back to La Gomera in 1492, Tenerife had not yet been conquered by the Kingdom of Castile, they did it between 1494 and 1496 (Tenerife was the last island to be conquered by the Spanish). I think your GPS made an alternative route to the usual one (where the roads are actually much better). Ah I forgot to tell you that the two parts of the movie "Clash of the Titans" parts of them were recorded here in Tenerife (in Teide, Teno, Abades ...) Greetings. 😉
