Ride to Big Walker Lookout (US-52, Wytheville, VA)

Was riding from Maryland to Alabama on I-81 and took a quick detour to ride to Big Walker Lookout in Wytheville, VA. Discovered this location when searching for scenic, twisty roads to ride in Virginia. This scenic byway begins at exit 47 of I-77 and ends at exit 52 (I-77) in Bland. I started at exit 52 and rode south and returned to I-81 near exit 60; this is a great way to view the mountains and return to your trip.
Big Walker Mountain Scenic Byway passes through national forest and private land, this 16-mile stretch showcases mountain vistas, historic farm homesteads and tree-lined forest vistas.

Just checked out 221 and just added it to my list. I ridden the Blue Ridge Parkway but not 221.

I stand corrected. I have ridden parts of 221 through VA, heading north toward Roanoke. Great road.
